I have a computer in an HTPC case in the entertainment center - looks just like the amplifier near it. I use a remote control for almost everything. Once in a while, I get out the mouse and keyboards for maintenance.
But everything - even launching and exiting emulators is done by remote control. Then the wireless controllers are used for playing the emulated games.
I said explaining to the layman. They don't care about those details anyway. Certainly they're not going to just grab some rat poison and self-treat based on what I say. It gets to the point and there's few enough details that they can follow the thought process.
I have to think that with the level of engagement being higher - if you in any way make use of an idea before committing it to memory rather than try to just memorize it rotely, you have a much better chance of retaining that information. I haven't seen any studies, though.
I'm not sure if I agree. Part of a topic being engaging or not is having it be presented in a way that shows its importance. My favorite class in high school was a history class where the teacher used role-playing to show just why certain decisions were made. Even if it was done for the wrong reasons I think it could still have a positive effect. Even as someone who would pay attention anyway, having an entire class engaged presents far more perspectives than being the only interested student.
How often are you going to be mounting external media on a remote server? I also can't really think of very often where I don't just do wget instead of a web browser. I have ubuntu-server on a home server, and I've never had even the inkling of a need for a GUI - and I'm a Windows convert with OSX on my desktop.
I'm not saying your preference is invalid in any way. For a remote server, using any kind of VNC or rdp is also going to be slower than SSH.
Have you looked at Ubuntu Server Edition lately? They have an LTS version that's supported for 5 years of security updates without updating to a new distro release. Debian doesn't come close.
Yeah - and Ubuntu server is headless and has none of the libraries you need for that. It's a bone-headed Windows approach that's just going to eat up resources. Writer of the article used PuTTY on Windows to access over SSH and WinSCP for file transfer.
I took sick time for not getting any sleep the night before. I would have gotten sick if I hadn't stayed home to sleep. We got woken up at 2am for a bomb threat - had to leave our building for a couple hours in the middle of the night. I did get a hard time back at work for not coming in, but I know what makes me sick. You can't always prevent this sort of thing.
You can have your Lobster Lobster, but you can't have Kobe Kobe. Kobe beef refers to more than just a specific breed of cattle. It refers to how they're fed, too.
That only muffles the built-in microphone a little bit. Most of the sound still gets through. Or did I miss part of your plan?

What do companies normally do with profit? It's not like they don't charge overhead on distributing other fees.
And again, what are the taxes on "unlimited" storage?
And a tax for RAM, since that could be used to buffer streaming audio and to hold a decoded copy of audio while playing.
Thank you, AC. And yet, I never noticed the error until you pointed it out. So maybe it doesn't matter at all.
32MB? That was a pretty good amount of memory when Pentium was king.

That's how I always describe chemotherapy to the layman. It's taking just enough poison and hoping that the cancer dies first.

Of course, I also have no mouse, keyboard, or screen connected to my home server. Trying to use a remote GUI just makes life difficult IMHO.

Yes, but does it gain you anything useful?

You're still doing your employer a favor by not showing up. What use are you?
Right - but there's plenty of jobs that expect you to still contribute from home, even while using a sick time benefit.
And of course to go to that doctor, you must leave home.
Seriously - just buy Riven on DVD already! Or just copy to your hard drive.
Oooh! That's a NICE phone! I want one.
How secure it in?
