    The problem is the "engineers" are trying to break laws of physics. the extra mass of the flywheel will soak up all the power gained from spinning it up.
    A flywheel is Power Output = Power input - losses, You will not have any gains from the flywheel only losses. it will conserve some energy, but not as much as an electrical regeneration system does.

    Are you nuts? Most people firmly believe in the "one rule for me, another rule for them" idea. Human beings are barely civilized, the believe their neighbors should do what they want them to do but they can do something else because "they know better". The Catholic church is based on this as well as Islam and all other religions as practiced.

    In fact, if you ask most Americans, If doing something against the law will "protect them from terrorism" they will gladly allow it. the PATRIOT ACT goes against most of the constitution yet most Americans love it and adore it.

    It does tell you how to do it, there are several examples in the book of how to do every single thing he talks about.
    This is one of the books I read every 2 years, well actually I listen to the audiobook every 2 years as a refresher.

    From reading what material she has online, it is no different at all to what is in the book, except with a lot of added corporate speak and some things changed to make it look "fresh".

    The other issue with netflix is they refuse to give you any controls. I want to set it to only ever stream in Standard Def. Stop trying to stream in highest HD when "network has changed"

    Most TV shows I could care less about seeing in HD and would rather it play from begin to end without problems.

    You have netflix, hulu+ and Apple media on an XBMC? you need to share this with the XBMC guys because nobody else is getting this to work.
    I run XBMC, been using it for 10+ years. It is awesome for local media, but aggressively protected streaming media it sucks donkey balls.

    Hulu Plus is a very reasonable plan, but ISP's are greedy assholes and refuse to upgrade their infrastructure. Most ISP's like Comcast are running on 15 year old gear. Hell I know michigan internet coverage for Comcast is over a single OC3 worth of bandwidth for an ENTIRE STATE. there should be 4, OC24's for a population the size of Michigan for the internet backbone. Some of the gear in the Comcast headends in use is still left overs from the @home days.

    Netflix disk delivery + handbrake and a seedbox.

    Movies I rip myself with a nice automated system, Tv shows from the seedbox. works fantastic and better than any service. Maybe someday when we are not dealing with 3rd world country quality of internet in the USA, we might be able to stream decently.

    But unfortunately bottom of the Darell quality ISP's like Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, etc will limit any technology adoption. Some day the USA will catch up with the rest of the world.

    You are expecting that Microsoft programmers are competent and actually can figure out something that complex. They are doing a simple - system. no positives and all negatives, and you crater quickly when someone mods you down because they disagree or suck at a game and are whiny babies.

    Good players will get ganged up on by the fricking kiddies and smeared. It's why I refuse to play any public multi player stuff anymore.
    Last time I did any of that was back when Modern Warfare was released. 2 friends of mine and I were utterly owning maps by using real tactics. all three of us were hit with complaints by the kiddies that want to be tubers or camper.

    I only do private games with friends anymore, tired of the utter scum that is the public gaming crowd on Xbox.

    And they still do. I know some guys that own a few redboxes (it's a franchise) and they hit walmart on release day to get them in the boxes faster. Some of the studios pull crap and delay a DVD to hit rental companies the day of release so rentals are available 2-3 days later.

    Or buy the DVD and use handbrake to rip it.

    Honestly, why is this even on slashdot? it belongs on a site with a Tech IQ that is very low, like Gizmodo.

    Until recently a lot of BluRays came with a code to give you the movie as a download in itunes.

    Yet more people use apple for desktop computing than all linux combined. Stop with the hater bullshit. Linux has a long way to go for even OSX level of adoption on the desktop. I LOVE linux, but I cant use it because 90% of the apps I need are not on it nor have any real viable replacements.

    Example: video editing suites. NOTHING useable on linux compared to Final Cut X, AVID, or Sony Vegas. NOTHING on linux even close to After Effects.
    Nothing in linux even close to Lightroom.

    I want them to exist, but they dont.

    Hell even for business, NOTHING on linux even close to a real business accounting package. etc...

    every year I try to use linux in one way or another, and every year I have to go back to Windows or OSX because it just is not there yet.

    I WANT to use linux, sadly all the linux people are busy screwing around with bullshit like Desktop UI changes and doing nothing to make the platform useable for the masses.

    Actually yes, each camera had exactly 1 frame of film in it. you took a photo, pulled the back and threw the camera away. By the time we were ready for Apollow 18 they invented fitting more than 1 frame of film in a camera at NASA, this is why skylab was not riddled with discarded cameras.

    When your code can kill or maim people, you care about it being right not shipping. Real programmers care about it being right.

    Actually technically that is not as good as geothermal built on top of vents and places where the earth's magma is close to the surface. If you want to get to the most efficient. But you can also find uneducated "eco-freaks" that will complain that that is cooling the earth's core and hurting the environment. Same people that claim that windmills are slowing the earths rotation.

    This depends. if there is no idiot manager breathing down the neck and allows the programmer to take the needed time to test, rewrite, test, rewrite... then the output is good code.

    Loser managers that cut in half or worse in third the time it takes to actually write good code cause most of the horrid crap you see out there. I guarantee that everything written by Bioware is an unholy mess. The sheer number of bugs I see in every one of their releases means they dont care about good code, they care about the fact it compiled.

    Code that does the job in the simplest possible way. This means that the writer went through several prototypes before they settled on the code they liked instead of the normal..."it works SHIP IT!"

    No obfuscated crap, it's clear simple and concise.
