You are full of carp on the AVID replacement. there is nothing . N O T H I N G that is FOSS that can replace avid. Hell there is nothing FOSS that can replace Adobe Premiere.
Everything that is FOSS for video production is either a toy for home movies or is so buggy that you lose money by the bucketload. When you are paying a professional editor $90 an hour to edit your film you dont want Cinerella to crash yet again and take out the last 4 hours of work.
Oh and ignore that to use FOSS you have to transcode all your footage because it will not work with RAW video or with AVCHD (if you work in ENG you have to live with AVCHD as all the pro sony cameras use it) so now you need to transcode and get a mild generation loss PLUS waste about 6 hours to convert the 12 hours of footage you shot.
Unless you have some hidden FOSS project out there that we have not been able to find. Because every single one I have tried is utter, utter, crap compared even to the Jokes of the industry like Premiere and Canopus.
Oh and please tell me what you are using to replace After Effects? Dont even try to say blender. Eventually Blender will be able to do some of this, but not now.. not if you are paying someone to work with it. Workflow in blender for anything outside of 3D CGI is a nightmare.

The speeds and altitudes that airliners fly at, you will die exiting the aircraft. Unless you have one that has a clear belly exit stairwell, you will be smashed against the side of the plane several times.

Lastly, I dont know of any aircraft emergencies that have an hour of warning for everyone to orderly leave the aircraft, except for the mini bar running out of Vodka.

You havent seen the absolutely worthless programmers coming out of universities lately. Seriously we had one of them have problems with binary math, luckily he quit shortly afterwards. He was unable to complete even the simplest of tasks for programming simple hardware drivers with the protocol documentation in front of him.

So most of the Hollywood high end cameras are also non functional? Because a panavision camera cant record audio. That is why they do the clapper thing and have an audio recording setup.

From what MSFT is pulling with the Xbox One all I see is the end of console gaming.
Game prices are already out of control, $80.00 for a new release is criminal. $60.00 is borderline criminal. Couple with that the new "no used, no borrowing" stance the game companies desperately want to put in place and all I see is consoles coming to an end.
I will Tolerate no loaning and no used if the games cost $20.00 to me, but I guarantee that the next games for the new consoles will start at $100.00 for new releases.
AMEN. Slackware with a custom compiled kernel on my laptop utterly decimates anyones Ubuntu install. To the point that people cant believe that it's linux running that fast.
The low grade dog-food that is the popular distros today are causing more harm than good with them being dog slow and broken all over the place for the sake of supporting everything possible.

Except a BMW 7 series can do something the Tesla absolutely can not do. Drive from NYC to LA in 38 hours. OR even detroit to Orlando in 20 hours. Tesla is a short distance car, perfect for your daily short commute. If you own a tesla you have to own another car for any long trips.
