Stop working for Faceless Corps and switch to a smaller company where you rub elbows with the Owners daily. They are not stupid and do the "only youngsters here" stupidity. They realize the older worker is a pro in the field they have been in for the past 20 years and use them to compete with the morons that have MBA's
I'll never work for another Fortune 500 company again. I prefer having beers at the end of the day with the guys that own the business.
Good luck. I can, right now have a heavily encrypted communication with several people over the internet that you will not be able to decrypt when the information is the most valuable to you. This is your own fault. You did not pressure Congress to fund the Sciences heavily to make sure we had the best and brightest here in the USA working for you. Instead you let them go off on their hunt on the constitution. You let the Fear engine get away from you and let the CIA have the ball with their Terrorism Bogeyman.
Now it's too late. Even a 13 year old kid in a basement has the tools he needs to make a secure encrypted communication channel that would take you months or even years to crack. Long after it was valuable to do so.
Want to fix it? Go to congress and scare the bejesus out of them, Get them to dump 20 to 30% of the Defense budget into Science and research. If we start now you can get back on top in about 10 to 15 years. It is the only way. If you dont, the bad guys will win. Get off your asses and scare the shit out of congress to get the funding, because if you actually talk to them like they were educated men, you will be wasting your time.
Well the solution is to allow the republicans to have full control. Remove minimum wage limits and reinstate slavery.
Now we can mine all the resources and build the raw materials cheaply. The real workers, the managers and executives can get incredibly high pay while they supervise the construction. I am guessing we will have to pay the scientists something, unless there is a way we can change the laws so that they are forced to work because it is for national security... Oh that is a brilliant idea... Those executives deserve their pay, they need a raise! An extra million a year for everyone who has a corner office!
The enterprise is horribly designed. Honestly it's good for Skiffy but it sucks in reality. This is where this guy falls on his face hard. There are other designs that real engineers have came up with that would work better, even just a long round tube is a lot better design than this.
Plus building something that huge is ridiculousness, unless you are thinking ARK ship for people to leave earth and never return, but even then the enterprise is the worst possible design you could use.
what is next? let's lift the Yamamoto off the ocean floor and fit engines to it to turn it into a space battleship?
I have HP and nokia routers that have been working for DECADES. try that with cisco. I have not been able to, as Cisco routers here from 2002-2005 blew caps. that's when we switched away from Cisco and their retarded config system. IOS is crap.
Hp is what we use, we even ripped out the POS Cisco phone system an went nortel.
"Geography is a bit different. The US is huge, and while plenty of us party and hang out, when you have to drive long distances to do that it requires both effort and expensive petrol."
Mostly because of the american auto industry lobbying against public transportation for decades. the USA could have had a fantastic light rail system next to the heavy rail, but Ford from the beginning convinced leaders that it was a waste of money as everyone will afford cars easily....
Most everyone that is not a rich asshole WANTS the banks to collapse. IF the banks were let to fail back in 2008 a lot of rich assholes would have been taught a lesson and the recovery would have been finished already.
Let them fail. and I hope Greece says "FUCK YOU" to the banks and does a hard default. It would be the best thing in the world for them to wipe out all the debt.
I love how soccer matches and Rugby games all end with everyone in the stands hugging over there in europe. There have never been any riots after or during games.
All DVD's and BluRay's never get played until they are Ripped and stripped of that crap and then put on the NAS so the XBMC's around the house can play them.
Total cost for windows workstation is $650 a seat, including CAL's and user licenses. I cant deploy a desktop for that, and I have far FAR lower maintainability costs by not having PC's.
MY banana break is at 11:45, and we start throwing feces around 3:12 pm. Unless the hot receptionist is here, then we all run around with our chests puffed up...
BRB, I need to jump on daves desk and scream at him.
Feel free to go give one a hug, they rip faces off. They need to be in a cage...otherwise the next step is the statue of liberty buried up to her neck on a beach!
I do this all the time on my HP thin clients running from a linux server. you can run flash and java natively on the thin client. at least the X86 ones.
but in a corporate environment, that is not an issue, 1000bt streams the remote session quite nicely for windows playback.
Hp thin clients all do support X on their own, or at least historically. The last few were just X86 pc's that you netbooted what you wanted, so I was netbooting a linux to do remote X sessions.
And they eliminate 50% of your IT staff needs. no more dealing with workstations and idiot users, I can replace a failed thin client in 35 seconds and the user has no loss of data or any workflow interruption.
a general office is dumb to buy desktop PC's anymore. Thin clients for the sales, marketing, accounting, and general office, workstations for the people that actually use computers and you are done. Spend the money in the back office.
You missed the one that most people use. Normal navigation using that new fangled compass thing and paper maps.
Not hard at all if you have any education at all in how to use them. I know private pilots that double check their GPS gear by taking headings and using VFR references to navigate through clouds. and as for the glide slope and inner and outer beacons, they would need some serious transmitter power to screw with those. Because you are very close to those highly directional transmitters when you use them.
". Mere possession of the receiver is insufficient; it still needs the tightly controlled daily key."
This is incorrect.
You can fix the Dilution errors by using DGPS. 2-3 cheap GPS recievers in an area can create a correction signal to give you back the accuracy. Did it daily in the 90's when I worked with the new fangled GPS based survey equipment. Plop down 2 tripods with GPS recievers and you go winder with your third. if you are inside the area your two error receivers are set you have a 1cm accuracy, outside them but within radio range and you have 10cm.
You can easily make your own DGPS setup for a few hundred bucks and some used GPS units.

Now to just get $25,000 to send to microsoft so they will build me one.
My luck 3.0 will come out when they ship it.

"What is somewhat true is that the Dutch watch less TV, but they do other things around the house too."
Mostly because Dutch TV really sucks. Have you watched it? It makes some of the more lame BBC programs look Brilliant.
And their news drones on, at least have the women topless for gods sake.

I dont tolerate that crap.
Not For $450 a workstation you cant.

Just another day in Corporate america.

No apps run on the client, it just boots the os and then runs the apps on the server.
I suggest looking up what thin clients do and how they operate, you surely dont think they have an ARM version of office 2014.
If those 400 desks need a desk lamp? I'll use standard Thin clients and plug them into the outlet in that cube.
Now if all 400 desks do not have any power ran to them, this is a viable solution.
No, the developer TOS forbids this. IT's not a built in OS lock, it's a Legal ," we get to spank you" lock.
Quite different, but just as shady.
Illiteracy is so sad :(
Yes, it is, please point out where I say DGPS will not work. I think you need to learn english.

It is perfectly legal in North Korea to do so.
