    Voyager probes are frigging HUGE. why cant we launch the same thing twice, but have them assemble in orbit and give it a chemical kick in the ass to get the slingshotting down and then when it get's it's last slingshot around juipeter kick in the Ion engines to do a long hard burn for a few years to get the thing really hauling ass.

    I'll bet with current tech we can get past Voyager 1 within 10 years AND have better instruments, a stronger transmitter, far more sensitive receiver, etc.... Seriously. NASA could do this right now and we might see a flyby of another star within a 200 year window.

    2 reasons.

    1 - idiot manager syndrome. There are complete and utter morons in positions of power that make decisions like that. they go against all recommendations and do what they want because they know better! They are the BOSS!

    2 - hiring incompetent IT/Web-design because they cant understand why you need to actually pay that position a wage that attracts competent applicants. $12.95 an hour = guy who is handy and knows 'puters.... The position requires $35.00 an hour minimum to attract a competent guy that would have raised red flags all over the place when this was being designed.

    When my wife discovered netflix streaming I bought a $99.00 RoKu box and stuck with linux on everything... Plus it's far better than sitting there watching it on a tiny screen.

    Ahhh, the venerable VO-1600... I can imagine the lights dimming as that thing spun up the motors. Problem was it could bot schedule recordings, you had to set it's mechanical tuner to the station and press record while you watched something else. Problem was, it never recorded the whole show...Tapes were not long enough for a 1 hour show...

    The phillips N-1500 was the first real VCR with a timer....

    The pure smearing of the nasty NTSC video.... which you could not tell because broadcast was all smeared and crappy anyways.....

    NBC's content is a piss in the bucket of the better stuff out there. the BBC produces a lot, as well as a lot of other smaller players.

    Honestly, content without a big conglomo is right around the corner... NBC will die just like a bad SNL sketch.

    I get it all in HD and without commercials via bittorrent...

    Until they stop being idiots and assholes, I'll stick with the content delivery that I trust.

    and yes I PAY for a private tracker group that has no MPAA or industry lackeys in it. I'd PAY them for the files, but NBC, COmcast and everyone else is not interest in selling them to me. Give me non DRM standard 720p mpeg4 files and I'll give you $1.00 an episode. force DRM on me then I'll look elsewhere as I want to use MY playback system not your crappy screwed up junk.

    Easily traced until you get to the POP of the Voip call. Or it's not out of a company's compromised phone system.

    Sorry but prank calling phone numbers is 100% untraceable and easy to do in the world of Voip and tons of companies with outbound services that are not protected as well as they should be.

    Phone calls are the easiest to hide behind, because they can't do the CSI trace the call crap. Your education in the matter is from TV and is very flawed.

    If you would have had the dry ice and the drive in a cooler you dont have to worry about condensation. CO2 will displace all the air in the cooler, and itwill certianly be too cold in there to have more than 0% humidity.

    You nailed it.

    Comcast, AT&T, all of them do NOT want to upgrade infrastructure to deliver real broadband, because they make far higher profits by letting it simply sit.
    Plus without Govt regulation or real competition, they can tel the customer, "Stuff it in your pie hole" if you call to complain.

    Honestly, they are doing what us as consumers ask them to do. IF you happily pay your bill month after month and do not complain to the FTC and FCC on a regular basis, then you ENJOY your service and LOVE your service company.
