I don't care about being anonymous or not. I have fun throwing my $0.02 (canadian) in. It just sucks that $0.02 is worthless, just like my opinions. =D
Seriously though, imagine Microsoft created.LINUX or.NIX where you run a program and it black-screens on you. It'd be something like "SEGMENTATION FAULT: 0E, and you thought this OS was built on stability, built Microsoft tough".
Wouldn't it be grand to laugh and yell to them "Hey, get your crappy product out of here. We are in control for once and your product is a big segmentation fault".
The reason the US media puts more attention to kidnappings/murders is simple. Generally the people are rich-white people's kids (look at that ramsey kid). Every ignorant white-trash trailer-park american will sympathize with them and devote their meaningless existences to something they have no control over. It plays on the hearts of them and therefore they'll want to know what's happening.
Do you really think jon q. trailer-trash cares about Microsoft stealing private information about how many bottles of gin he drinks a week? The only enjoyment those people get is from watching their relatives on Cops.
It's sic, especially when theirs much bigger issues in the world (i.e. how the US plans to rebuild afghanistan, africa's problems with aids and disease) but thats life.
Geforce video cards okay but remember...their catored to gaming. The graphics / rendering / core of the cards is nothing compared to SGI / Sun video cards. Keep in mind that you will still need a farm because even though you $900 Geforce 6 gets 1,000 fps in quake 3, it's no rendering beast. You'll still need Maya, Soft Image, Lightwave, and Renderman. The only difference if nvidia improves performance for a workstation market (even including the quadros) is it'll probably be slightly cheaper then an sgi card. The downside, visual quality. SGI owns visual quality.
I would like to start toying with J2ME and other phone api's however I have yet to come accross a single phone my company (telus) supports. Does anyone know of a wireless phone api list?
Honestly, how could Linux compete against Windows in a desktop market. It's nothing like it. Look at the comparison: - Windows is Costly - Windows isn't stable - Windows requires big computing power to display a mouse - Windows requires lots of space - Windows steals personal information - Windows sells licenses your soul to Bill Gates. Linux has nothing on Windows.
Did anyone in this stink-tank ever do research into the GPL, open-source, linux, terrorism, operating system development or anything related to these topics. Obviously not. It's amazing how people can bought by the dark lord of Redmond.
How many terrorists would bother to go through hundreds of thousands of lines of code to find you can gain access to a damned finger server. Ooooh big deal, you can view my.plan file. If you click the refresh button enough times in IE, with an IIS server you'll cause it to crash. Then ofcourse theres the weekly security flaw which must be fixed, virus', couple this with blue screens, regular reboots because of memory leaks, and high prices and you've got innovation.
I would love to see MS design a car or plane and try to explain to the customers that although the wings flew off, their not liable because you're licensing your seat!
It's amazing how they perceive a community of intelligent people working towards a single goal (stability / performance / reliability of products) a sin.
I think the kids who were part of this "think tank" were nothing more then disgruntled mcse's who got fired because their companies moved to unix and they couldn't understand a regular expression if their lives depended on it.

What part of the car are you referring to? I can tell you exactly how the internal combustion system works if thats how you are asking. Besides, comparing a car to a nuking/freaking/hacking utility are different.
The onboard computers are far more complex then a realitively simple "hacking tool". A hacking tool only attempts to connect to open ports on a computer, or sends information attempting to gain access to the machine, or sends icmp echos via ping ports eventually flooding the servers receiving the information. The onboard computer on a car sends information to the timing valves about when to and not to spit gas into the system to create combustion therefore making the pistons move, which moves the gears to allow the car to accelerate.
Are you getting all this? Or I should I dumb this down for you: Ugg, puter spit gas, engine burp, wheel move.
And if that happened, the Canadian government would stop ALL major exports to the US, you know: Maple Syrup, Hockey Sticks, and Celine Dion CD's. Although the last one would probably be a good thing.
Well once again the US Government decides to try and attempt to control the internet from "free speech" which is the 1st amendment.
So what would happen if I wrote something that defamated a US citizen? I live in Canada and US laws don't apply here. I'll give the one finger salute to the FBI, or what US agency that comes a knocking at my door.

Why are you calling them bums, the politically correct term is "trailer impaired".

It's funny you guys moch me yet your such intelligent beings that you can't even think up your own handles.
I bow down to you the coward because you are forever l33t.

Mafiaboy was just script-kiddie s0ss. Anyone who uses the scripts and tools without understanding what the hell they are doing is lame.
I don't condone hacking, nor participate it but these people shouldn't be so ignorant as to icmp yourself and call yourself "l33t".
