It's important, but it's just one piece of the puzzle.
I for one think MS have done the right thing here, at the level V8/ Opera and probably soon IE9 & FF4 is, hardware accelerated graphics are just as or more important when creating games and applications with rich interfaces and graphics.
>I *do* tell people that they're wrong when I hear them do that.
Don't you think that maybe, just maybe, *you* are wrong when everyone else is of a different opinion?
Nitpickers are irritating, but when your actually wrong as well it's just plain sad..
You might like to actually test it, people have been telling good things about Windows 7, and the interface and updates do look quite nice.
You missed the point! CNet and PC World seems to be very much just reproducing Microsoft's marketing material, just like they did when Vista came out.
And the benchmarks doesn't prove anything, if you ignore shutdown time, it looks to be slower overall then xp AND Vista..
And since Vista came out, both Linux and OS X have improved tremendously when it comes to performance and boot times.
Is Snow Leopard mentioned anywhere or compared to earlier OS X versions + all the Windows versions? NO..
Who said everyone was struggling? I didn't need to look far to find this..

In most western countries we are starting to get problems from increasing pension costs. And this doesn't help..
Since living longer seems to be inevitable, we should probably accept that the minimum pension age is increased(since we live longer then we did 50 years ago).
And the baby boom (~60's) generation should stop whining about cuts in their pensions asap, they are the number one cause for this problem in the first place (not producing enough children to support the cost of their own pension).
Are you one of those slow fuckers that still think invading Iraq was the right move?
Or that they had anything to do with 9/11?
Cause it seems you have slept for the last 5-10 years and missed that we all agreed more or less that we fucked up in our energy and pollution politics.
> If Global Warming is true, is it really a problem?
When all ocean city's in the world are under water, would you like to do something about it?
What would YOU prefer:
Moving several billions of people and rebuilding most of the earth's biggest city's OR find a new primary energy source now that are renewable and non pollutive?
eZ Publish was for a couple of years, but they got their php 5 version out late last year thanks to heavy community pressure. The instant effect was a 2x performance boost thanks to php 5(.1|2) alone.
The php 5 version (4.0) does not work in php 4, the reason is the difference in the reference system. Because they have one of the biggest oop php code bases around they had to do major rewrites twice (4.3 -> 4.4 and 4.4 -> 5.x). Looking back, it would probably been a good idea to skip 4.4 all together..
One of the fastest and smallest linux distroes around that also include every thing you want.
Recently the main developer have focused a lot on boot time, releasing a special build for those that want fast boot (UniPup).
I'd still rather pay less for my medical insurance - Especially since the patents I'm paying for are being ignored on both my Canadian and Mexican borders. But socialism and capitalism are both nice ideas in theory. I just think that the US & Cuba are bad examples on either side. I'd love to find a country that's figured out how they should be balanced and needs a MSEE grad with PM experience that can look past a late-night semi-inebriated/. post...
Sitting in a Social Democratic nation in the north of Europe, I can say this:
Cuba is going in the right direction at the moment, mostly thanks to Raul it seems. US on the other hands is standing still, it has distanced it self from it allies after selecting conservatives** a few years back. Even though the economic race in Kina and India has made us (Europe) less dependent on US economy, it still has a large impact on our lives and culture, and thats why we like to have an opinion on what you select for government.
Some of the flaws in US government, from an outside perspective:
* The patent system (Select someone for office that is less conservative and cooperate founded and a change might happen..)
* The health care system (Again, select someone a tad more social, and they'll do something about it long term)
* The war on everyone, to either "crush" taliban or more preferably invade and give Iraqi oil to one of my friends oil companies (Select someone less aggressive towards the world around you, and the world will most likely be less aggressive back)
* Intelligent design (Select someone that doesn't mix religion with politics that much, and you might get out of the dark ages too(again)..)
* Environment cowards (Select someone that doesn't found scientist to come up with objections to global warming to keep their corporate friends safe from having to do something about their unfiltered pollution)
** this is a bit ironic with all the public spending (war), budget deficit problems and restriction on peoples freedom.
Who cares about the environment, it can recover in 20-40 years.
Correction: The earth might recover in 20-40 thousand years, after all humans are extincted..
Real problem is still TOO MANY PEOPLE.
Yes, but unless all humans get higher education and/or higher income, they will keep popping out kids. So maybe we should have a look at how we (over) consume our resources..
This is actually the responsibility of our governments, they are the ones that are supposed to take decisions, even the though ones..
Example of one thing that can be done:
1. add high tax on oil
2. give that tax as subsidy on alternative fuel and alternative fuel driven cars / bikes / boats / plains, and create better / improve public transport.
Some governments do 1 but not 2 ( Norway for example), this is wrong, since you have to give an alternative in respect to supply and demand.
This is how governments can control Supply and demand, in other words pushing the Invisible Hand away from the fire.
So what you are saying is that if you use linux and don't do kernel hacking, then you are a average Joe??
Yeees, and the only two colors in the world is black and white, just like your gui..

This is a javascript / DOM test, not CSS.
It was developed by Netscape, so I guess they will do best.. Oh well..
Nothing a brain root-kit can't fix..
