  1. Re:Not so good for high volumes on Amazon & TuneCore To Cut Out the RIAA Middleman · · Score: 1

Amazon doe snot have to replace the current method. You want to print and sell CD's at live shows? Go ahead. What Amazon is offering is a way to sell CDs online, through a source that people trust.

The other difference is, it cost $999 to print 1000 CDs. Waht if you only sell 100? Well, if yo usell thme at $10 a pop, you'd have lost $599! Well, that blows now doesnt it... But, if you had gone through Amazon, you'd have made $400.

As you state, it might be better to sel lthem yourself over a certain number. But do you know that number? No, you don't.. So print a smaller number for live shows and then direct people to Amazon so that way you dont have to invest a lot of money in a venture that will most likely fail to begin with.

Large band like NIN can go off on their own because they have a decent fan following t oallwo them to do so. Most other artists need the marketing team of the RIA. 2% of 10 Million Albums might only be ~200K. But they more then make their money doing concerts or fro mtheir contract itself. If you want to make Millions and be a "large band" you need to marketing that the RIAA and Major Labels have to offer.

Mariah Carey might only get 2% from her album sales, but she gets ~10 Million just to record the album in the first place.

/Yes, there are exceptions that have made money/millions without labels, but there just that, exceptions. Marketing is important.

The difference between mp3.com and amazon is that I, my mother, and my grandfather know about amazon.com. No one worries too much about buyign something through Amazon. Amazon is a distribution method is far better then a website that most don't know exists.

Yes Indies have been around forver, but this offers them an even better way to distribute their music. And even most "Indies" still sign with some label, they just sign with an Indie label.

What does that mean? IF all things are equal, then they both did the "small things right", right? I guess im being nit picky wit hords, as it just hit me that you meant "all other things being equal".

It seems that these companies are selling products at a lower rate then they should be because they are not paying, or passing along the fees to consumers they should be. So you might possbile be getting the product for cheaper then you should be.

IS best buy raising the price for you if they charge you for stealing DVD's from their store?

Bad analogy aside, if there is a patent then the companies selling the product need to have purchased the rights to the patent. The patent holder went through the R&D to develope the technology, they do deserve to make some profit off that. otherwise, why do the R&D if others can sit back, let you waste your money, and then sell your product too without paying for the R&D or use of the patent?

I too would enjoy the game you mention. Specially if you mixed in a little of the PvP and player cities of Shadowbane. But it isn't going to happen. A "hard" game is a nitch market and the big thing now is being the next "WoW Killer". WoW is easy, VERY easy. thign start out easy and then they make them even more easier over time. There are no negatives is the game. You die? jsut enter the instance you were in and boom, your alive again. repair? you probably earned more gold from trash mobs in the instance then you need to spend on repair. And if you didnt, do a few simple quests, that you can repeat over and over, and you've got more then you lost in repairs.

People like simple. They like to think they like hard, but they really jsut want the feelign of acomplishment that comes with winning. Because of that, games like WoW will be popular and games that you want will be a nitch market. The problem is, does any game company want to develope a game for 250K people? Or would they rather try and make a WoW clone and get 1000K+ people?
