This is largely due to my ignorance of how space travel actually works, but why can't you descend gradually (or more gradually than we already do)? Wouldn't that reduce the overall maximum heat that the craft is exposed to?

A friend of mine is writing a book, and I suggested he shake things up a little bit and include multiple "forewords" as well as a "backword". Some poor bastard will get stuck with the last page.
...he liked my idea so much, he gave me the backword.;_;
In other news: Megaupload will likely Not be prosecuted by the U.S. Government because the judge ruled the government has no authority to "serve" a foreign company. Bad news: The U.S.G. still wins because they've destroyed the company, so RIAA and MPAA got their money's worth when they bribed the politicians to act as their puppets and kill megaupload.
I can't help wondering if the same tactic will be used in the future against sites or persons that Hollywood/the record companies desire to be silenced. No doubt CISPA will make that task so much easier.
Danm Fcukers.
Can't MU, you know, sue us and all now? Maybe in one of those international criminal court dealies that were made for stuff like this. Or how about in New Zealand (for added irony)?
No, but if they invent something so revolutionary that it doesn't fall under translating for other users, indexing, thumbnails, and a few other limited but sensible features, then they can renegotiate the ToS with us.
So the biggest complaints about him basically boil down to "He's trying to work within the existing system instead of trying what Ross Perot and Ralph Nader couldn't do with millions of dollars" and "He funnels as much money as he can to his district"?
The first one is him being sensible to a degree - moreover, how do you know he won't just outright pull out of the Republican nomination and run independently?
And as for the second one, that is literally every politician ever. If a politician said "I'm going to reduce all the stuff my district is getting!" there would be a recall vote faster than you can fuck up voting on a hanging chad!
This is just a temp fix - it kills the Update service for just that session. (You can restart it, stop it, change settings, etc. via Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services). If you want to kill the service permanently you would do it via this menu.
4) And now Windows stops bugging me to restart my computer when I'm trying to read my webcomics.
(Of course, I install the update at a later time, but some of the "idiot-proofing" has made things a major pain in the ass for people who know what they're doing sometimes, such as the lack of easy customization in certain programs.)

Trust is earned and reciprocal. Faith is one-way and expected of you.
No thanks, I'll take something that can be tested over something that can't any day of the week.
Except, apparently, being humble. d=

Excuse me, I believe it's "Wuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuuuuuuuuuuuh".
Nitrogen is a bit on the inert side to be useful as life's energy source.
Well, the vast majority of Americans are a bit on the inert side too but we seem to manage just fine.

Probably related to the same bug that has stories being posted multiple times.

Unless you're an undertaker. Then we're creating jobs!
Don't forget Alexander Maxwell from Hellsing and Rosette Christopher from Chrno Crusade!

On the flipside, we're creating jobs! I anxiously await "Ron Jeremy's Barely Legal TSA Patdown Party 7".

Which of these two headlines do you think would get more media attention?:
A) Man files complaint after TSA pats down his 4-year-old daughter
B) Man assaults 3 TSA agents after attempted pat-down of his 4-year-old daughter

Ah, thanks! Now if I ever meet an electrical engineer who is also a spy, I can humorously confuse him!
1) Start.
2) Run.
3) sc stop wuauserv

They don't invent things that deserve a 20 year monopoly and a legal right to run everyone else out of business.
Does anybody, really?
i went to their site at www.jccrew.org and it's just a picture of a burned out car. I don't get it.
Ah, well, that's a picture of what used to be a vehicle full of hacking equipment and anabolic steroids that subsequently blew up for no good reason.
wetwork
Is this some sort of computer security term? "Wetwork" is slang for "murder" in the espionage world.
You bet me to it
Okay, I'll give you 8 to 3 against!
It does have its share of issues and cruft, though. I can't for the life of me figure out how to close the "ooh_titties.exe" process.
Saudi Arabia is only "friendly" if you are an oil company.
Then I guess America is the biggest fucking oil company in the world.
