This is not really fair. Every fucking computer comes with IE, and Windows ruthlessly defends IE if you try to install another browser. (when you reboot it makes IE the 'default' broswer). If Netscape had bullied OEMs to install thier browser on every computer, then would you be singing the same tune? Browser dominance means jack shit to me because of this. Some people who see Netscape on my computer ask me "What's that?" because to them, because of Microsoft, INTERNET = WEB = INTERNET EXPLORER, and for that, I will never forgive Microsoft.
You are missing the big picture. Thier filesystem structure. Drive letters have got to go, I can't think of anything more DOS than drive letters, and look, Windows 2000 uses drive letters! Where is the hierarchal file system? Better than unix? Give me a break.
Block the ads with junkbuster, or adfilter. It speeds up the loading of the pages because you dont have to watch dancing banner ads, and denying revenue to web-whores is great fun!
I am a local vendor who builds custom pc's and services people's pc's. It's nice to hear more people with this sort of train of though, after working on a client's Compaq's for a couple of days, it has never been more apparent. Don't buy name brand PC's. As good a deal as they are, the hardware is cut-rate and shoddy, and in Compaq's case, totally proprietary.
linuxnewbie has a good article on using tagfiles in Slackware. Make one tagfile and have fully automated custom installs on many machines. Similar to msbatch
Right now AOL = IE, that is it. When their contract for tying AOL to IE is up, they are going to tell MS to shove it up thier ass and use Mozilla, and not IE. AOL owns Netscape, why would they actually help integrate thier product into the competitors, when all the competitor has done is stab them in the back? If the 86% does drop to 40% because of the AOL+mozilla thing, cheers to Netscape.
He also played the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow when the horseman had no head. You didn't think Christopher Walken could handle a sword and axe like that, did you?
While a CLI has it's place, the average user enjoys the simplicity of a GUI.
I'm sorry, but the average user doesn't run a web server, much less know what one is. Since this whole story is on web servers, your post is off topic. Average users don't use Linux, they use Windows. Average users think that 3 1/2" floppies are "hard disks". Average users think the monitor is the computer. Windows is made for average users.
When they say "buy a new computer" they do mean from a name brand OEM. Computer stores that sell computers whole are forced to bundle windows with them, so basically if you own a licensed copy of windows that came with your computer, you have "paid" for windows, whether its explicitly stated on your receipt or not. Often it is hidden in the cost of the computer (referred to as the Windows Tax), and that the computer should cost less with windows not pre installed or included in any way shape or form.
Recent studies have shown that IE market share is now at 100%. The war is finished.
Note: Studies were performed using hit counting on a particular site. Site was windowsupdate.microsoft.com. All non-IE browsers were redirected to a link where they could download IE. Non-IE browsers cannot access windowsupdate.microsoft.com This study is in no way affiliated with Microsoft or any of its subsidiaries.
Standards compliant? What about this? Microsoft is openly polluting standards and intentionally breaking portability. Read that link and tell me its not true. Fire up Netscape in X and visit som?e si?es,? an?d see how?you like it? when??? the ch?racter set?s lo?ok like th?s.
Using Linux or Netscape on Win32 by all Microsoft employees is grounds for execution in the basement of Building 24. Making a postive remark towards Open Source anything is grounds for instant dismissal (fired).
What I do is right click and copy link location, then switch to a terminal window and do wget followed by pasting the link location and hit enter. This also avoids the netscape bug where it gunzips the file but retains the.gz
Slackware 7.1 = glibc2.1.3 with 2.0 and libc5 runtime compatibility.

I tried integrating Windows and Unix as single variable expressions, as well as Windows/Unix and the reciprocal, Unix/Windows, and MapleV just craps out. Not even the DE Tools could help me. Any tips would be appreciated.
well, you could make an account and set it to -1,nested, and set the comment length to an absurdly high number. You might want to check out Junkbuster if you use netscape/x11. I hear Adfilter and Norton Internet Security block banner ads on the Wintendo platform, although they are only free if you pirate them.
That's really nice, remember though that everyone is stuck on intel/x86, and that no motherboard manufacturer will ever make a x86 compatible motherboard with a type of ram that intel doesn't sponsor, in this case they want you to use RDRAM. Don't beleive me? Look at all those dual Athlon motherboards out there, the manufacturers are scared shitless about intel cutting them off.

Wow so now Microsoft innovated the displaying of a console on a remote machine!

You wouldn't complain if you saw the taxes here in Canada. Whoop it up while you still can.
I'm sure you mean "lose".
