I've been a GMail member since you had to get an invite to sign up (bought an invite off of EBay for $0.99) and my email has been inaccessible by both web mail and POP3/IMAP exactly four times. That's just around once a year. Any other email service I've ever had has had that many outages in a single year.

Yeah, So. Fla and Nw. Fla are significantly different weather wise. I think it rains harder up here but less often for some reason. We only tend to get a bad rain storm once every few months, but when it rains it pours like a bitch. Was delivering some flowers for my dad so he could take a day off from running his florist, and had to deliver three arrangements during a torrential downpour to a funeral home. And each was big enough that I had to do them one at a time. Was miserable by the time I got back in the car, but within 30 minutes the sun was shining and I had to crank up the AC because it was getting unbearable.

Well, you must've been living in a cave for those 30 years (or you live in Miami). It usually stays at least reasonably cool until late March/early April, and it generally starts cooling down in mid to late October (I know this because we have a yearly fair here in Pensacola and it always starts cooling around the week of the fair). My point is that the weather is so random from day to day, and I've lived here long enough to know that trying to predict average weather in Florida is a fools game.

No problem, yeah, you are right, I stand corrected, it isn't complete garbage, but just out-of-date. You are right that they did not promote or advertise that you could get the ports unblocked, as at the time, Clearwire NOC engineers felt that if everyone used VOIP that it might cause massive latency issues with the towers. That's of course with the old tech, as WiMax should be able to handle quite a few more connections per tower due to the increased number of towers per square mile in the coverage area. WiMax also should handle moving around much better (such as in a bus or car), whereas the old tech could not effectively handle movement.

I'm not talking about the "Oh my god I broke my leg" situations but the "Oh my god my boyfriend stabbed me in the fucking stomach and now I have an uncontrolled GI bleed." Tell that to anyone who lives in or near the downtown area of any major city. My wife works as an MT (Medical Technician) near downtown in a city that only has a population of about 200k people, and they get gunshot and trauma victims all the time based on 911 calls (because they are informed by the 911 people that the ambulance is enroute, and they are the priority trauma center for this county) and most of the time these people live. It's the random off the street victims who stumble into the ER where 911 isn't called that die, usually by bleeding out while trying to make it to the hospital rather than having an EMT get them into a state where they can at least survive long enough to get into the capable hands of a trauma surgeon.
