Yes we're talking about movies, but these are also film classics we're talking about here. If Kurt Vonnegut was going to rewrite Slaughterhouse 5 and resell it, I bet you wouldn't say "it's just a book"!
I personally am fed up with directors and producers making superfluous and/or detrimental changes to great movies(Star Wars, The Exorcist, Apocalypse Now) and passing them off as somehow authentic. These re-releases don't even have the faintest whiff of artistic credibility; they're purely cash-ins. But hey, at least I have the options of seeing the original versions of these movies on DVD...except for Star Wars that is.
Personally, I won't see AOTC or any George Lucas movie until either he releases the original non-special editions on DVD or he stops making movies.
