Think of it as a better virtual desktop manager.
I can't wait for this type of thing; as my day goes on, I've got more and more shit on my desktop (siebel, debuggers, build windows, email, text editors etc etc). It's not that I want to debug in 3D, but I sure would like to arrange my work environment in 3d.
I guess that would make the "desktop" an "office".

I submitted the word "while", which I can type in less than a second, and which I type fairly frequently when coding; I just don't believe you can get *anywhere* near the typing speed by co-ordinating these two domes. To get 'w' I've just got to make sure I hit the 'w' key on a normal keyboard, but on this thing I have to bring a time-element in too, I need to make two movements. I love gadgets, but I won't be ordering one of these.

  8. Old News :-) on Why Does The Universe Exist? · · Score: 1

I just read about a similar theory in a book by Dr. Paul Davies, written in 1980! ("Space, Superspace and Multiple Universes)
It discusses in detail the recurring magical number 10^40, and also discusses the anthropic principle; the universe is amazing to us cos it's one of the few possible where we can evolve and wonder at it.
Another thing this chap remarks on is how isotropic the universe is, and why there is not as much disorder (entropy) as there ought to be; his example is the relative disorder of the mass of our Sun and that same mass in the form of a black hole. Given that everything tends towards disorder, the probability of the sun being a black hole instead is astronomical.
Things to wonder about. Apologies for any theories, terminology etc that I mangled.

The concept is that you will hear Madonna one time and Janis Light the next song. Who is Janis Light? I have no idea, but the DJ is betting that if you like Madonna, you'll like Janis Light.

Now we're talking!! This is exactly the kind of streamed service I would like. I am constantly looking for new bands/music to listen to, and a service that can do this would be wonderful.

It wouldn't even have to be new bands - there are shedloads of albums I never heard, and this sounds like a great way to explore some of that territory.
