...on whose shoulders everyone else is standing.
SDs readership has never heard of him, but he's a pioneer and still a great player. A nice guy too, and a good teacher. He did a terrific banjo workshop at my school when I was an undergrad, and kept showing us licks and cracking us up with stories, for hours past the scheduled time.
General Lord, Commander of AFCYBER, has gone on record repeatedly accusing the Chinese PLA of large-scale military and economic hacking. The US is never going to present proof, but Lord has more weight than a journalist, beltway consultant or slashdotter.

Anybody on this list read Dawkins's stuff? Agree with it or don't, it's like the man himself - bitter, repetitious, and self-serious. I think his fans like the ideas they think he represents, when they see them summarized or quoted third-hand. Actual readers will be disappointed.
> a stroke of publicity genius Now you're talking about Dawkins's real talent.
In the forward of the great book Why Buildings Fall Down, Matthys Levy tells the story of an elderly relative. When she was presented with Levy's previous book about how buildings stay up, said she would rather know why they fall down.
Levy's book is a good read for security people and almost everyone who works in systems and networks.
Why is Lessig still attracting an audience? He lost the slamdunk Microsoft anti-trust case, none of his work on copyright has amounted to anything, why is he still in the news?
Aside from a killer resume and an ear for self-promotion, what's he got? He's famous for being famous, which is a cushy job.
Very interesting. Source?
