I've had to clean up after programmers like you: I'm still recovering from the shock of having to deal with a large parts manufacturer's database, only to discover that they had paid $40k for a piece of junk written in basic. The programmers were nowhere to be found. I had hoped that was an isolated case.

More on topic, though, I think basic and forth are both very good options for a starting programming language.
Your 'quote' Judge not lest ye be judged is taken completely out of context. Read the rest of that verse, and you'll find that it's just fine to judge others, according to the bible. Those words are probably the most cliche'd ones that people use when trying to argue a point with christians. Do not try to use the Bible to prove a point when you haven't read it yourself.
Mathew 7:1-2 (KJV) Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Elsewhere in the bible, it says that it's perfectly ok to judge others, so long as the judgement is righteous. Just a pet peeve of mine...
Actually, there is 'choice'. There's lots of choices. Seems a little ignorant to say there isn't, seeing as how abortion is completely legal, as are many other population control methods. -lx
