I don't think it would have been Oblivion, there wasn't any DRM on that game for the PC at all, with the exception of a disk check that could easily be avoided.
That cost per TB of disk is based on consumer grade drives, enterprise drives cost quite a bit more. I think anywhere from 8 to 25k per TB depending on the tier of storage array.
