  1. 80% of the time, it works every time on Students Are Always Half Right In Pittsburgh · · Score: 1

As a former Pittsburgh Public Schools student, I don't recall ever having to worry about the 50% minimum grade - but I do remember taking advantage of the 80% mandatory attendance policy that they had when I was there which with careful management allowed me to take 4 * 3-day weekends and a week off every quarter to do more important things.

  3. Any Translators Out There? on Japanese Company Says Laws of Physics Don't Apply — to Cars · · Score: 1

My year of Japanese doesn't quite qualify me to make a decent translation of the site, but perhaps before dismissing the claim outright based on a 30 second vid and article we might want to understand what the actual claim is first? http://www.genepax.co.jp/

  4. Why not the private sector? on Sci-Fi Tech We Could Have Right Now (For a Price) · · Score: 1

GE could basically build a thing like this itself. Run it 4 tracks wide from LA to Denver to Chicago to NYC, have the operating costs basically covered by package and other commercial shipping companies. There are a lot of profitable applications to a system like this I'd imagine. What would stop private industry from doing it?
