Anyway, the British Empire is still ~200 years (take or leave a few decades) away. Spain didn't collapse because of the expense of the Armada - it was funded in great part by the Papal States. However, there is a shift of CULTURAL focus during this period; England perceives herself as ascendant and looks at Spain as a decadent power waiting to fall.
