Ick. Sorry Jon, my wording was a bit too harsh, and for that I apologize.

I still believe, though, that, unless they thought their own lives were in danger, what they went through doesn't even BEGIN to mitigate murdering 15 people.

If they were victims of anything, it was their own mental illnesses. With all of the hostility they carried around, there was no way they could have been mentally healthy.

But the killers were victims of a different sort

Bullshit. They stopped being victims with the first person they gunned down.

Please don't color those two as martyrs. That is a very dangerous attitude.

    Okay, I'll paraphrase.

An even number is any integer n where n/2 is also an integer.

Or, to put it another way, for any integer m, m*2 is even.

From Eric Wesstein's World of Mathematics the definition of an even number is as follows:

    An Integer of the form N=2n, where n is an Integer. The even numbers are therefore ..., -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, ...

If this is wrong, can you explain to me why 0 isn't even?

So, why is it with all this we're getting more stressed and more violent every day???

IMHO, the increase in stress and violence is actually a side-effect of all the extra conveniences.

From what I've seen, people (in general) have gotten so used to instant gratification that they can't deal with waiting.

Don't get me wrong; I do think all of these conveniences are a good thing. But it seems that perhaps the Star Trek philosophy has an excessively optimistic view of human nature.

    Okay, flame away...
