Could someone explain what the argument for cameras even is? A camera is always there, unless you can afford to put policemen on every corner of my estate id rather there were at least cameras.
Last night at about 4am i went out to get some pizza and on the way home i saw a couple of shady characters, as soon as i walked round the corner to the street i knew there was CCTV i felt 100x safter than the uncovered street. Sure if we paid 200% taxes we could afford to have policemen walking about (in fact there was a police car that drove past on my way to the shops) but realistically that's not going to happen
Bet you wouldn't say that if you were the victim of the 3% that solved. 3% is not as insignificant as it sounds, 1 in 30, and that's not counted the fact there preventative too.
Free speech is still free speech even^H^H^H^Hespecially when you don't agree with it. Asshats are entitled to their opinion even when they do not choose to sign their name. The unique feature of the internet is that with anonymity, we can rise beyond distinctions of race, gender, physical appearance, etc. That's much too important to throw away. Im all for freespeach, but trolls arnt expressing their opinion, they are just being a pain.

Seriously dont feed them, dont talk to them & dont talk about them and silently implement some measures to get rid of them. Dont IP-ban, just IP-"oops all your posts go missing" Delay all non-logged in posts, even trolls arnt going sit around for 3 hours to get a response. Hell I dont get why slashdot allows AC to view at anything less than 2/3 tbh, its just not as fun trolling if you cant see any reaction.

To actually replace anything with wind, you'd need a tremendous overcapacity that was sufficiently distributed geographically to ensure that enough of it got wind all the time to meet your total power needs. There are these magical things called batteries, that store energy when your not using it and allow you to use it latter, so you can get rid of the conventional capacity. Over something the size of the american grid (is it all o the same grid?), you could probably get away with just a days storage
Surely then youd need to bundle GCC with your virus because most people dont have a compiler, meaning all viruses would be GPLd and you have to have to offer every machine you infect the source...hmm
either that or you have to develop a self compiling virus, which has the chance of suffering random code changes and evolving...hmmm

Well he wasnt imprisoned but i personally dont get why any of them were. The blackmailer maybe, but locking the guy up for scanning cisco routers for default passwords, hes no danger to society hes just wasting taxs by being locked up.

I merely said that Sun dont consider BSD a competitor, Im not even saying I agree that BSD isnt a competitor just that SUN dont consider BSD one, and so dont mind ZFS being available to BSD, because your not competing for the same market segment.

Im sure MS hate their OS as much as we do, but their cool stuff like singularity isn't going to be accepted by the masses used to windows. They try and do something right with the UAC & new driver models and everybody hates vista (they're also implemented badly, but that's not my point). I think an interview with the Novell CEO over at openvoices summed it up quite well saying that while they need to keep offering the community the cutting edge technology they also have to remember that its the businesses (who cant risk being 'cutting edge') that are paying for the development, the same applies to windows.
OFC i think this is an area where linux would suffer a lot less if it ever got on top, because while the big distros would be pinned down unable to innovate, the smaller distros would still be able to innovate and the changes would be able to get back into the big distros if the businesses want/need them while the bug fixes of the big distros still filter out to the home users/innovators.
Does he have a point though? I think the giveaway is when he says a screen shot is worth a thousand words, then his screen shot is of vista with the taskbar at the top, Im not saying nobody has the taskbar at the top but its just one of many signs that hes a fan of apple.
Im no programmer but the article seams short on facts & details and high on ms bashing & skimming. Is the article right or is it just well presented trolling?

Only one problem its not the Windows fanboys that complain about the GUI toolkits its the apple ones. Windows fanboys are too busy playing games.
