Couldnt somebody make a zfs4linux patchset that users are free to download and compile, just not to give to anybody else?
I suppose none of the distros would see it as worth it as they cant claim ZFS support. For home users the situations would be a lot like proprietary drivers, distros could even include ZFS installer tools to make it easy.

Once people know about & are familiar with linux thats leaves us with:
Interoperability (this ones pretty much solved tbh)
Pre-installed OEMs (well dells got our back here)
    Hardware support (getting better)

I think the trick is to cross bread them with phones, youll end up with something like the N810, but hopefully bigger so the keyboard is usable while loosing the requirement of a surface to use them on (plus in small areas you can fall back on touchscreen).
I think the actual problem with the current generation is battery life, to be truly portable they need LED backlighting, and longer lasting batteries, preferably with external chargers so you can take a few with you for longer trips.

Today, many European countries (including mine, Sweden) have governmentally blessed internet blocklists that are far longer than the Chinese one. Really last time i checked the swedish blocklist was against racist sites, and wasnt nearly as big as the chinese one, but maybe im just more of a fan of facts than you.

Id like to see a comparision of linux distros for people like me:
    We're already on linux
We have a basic idea of the command line
We know some of the more important /etc/ files
We dont mind fiddling about to get stuff working
Which distro will suit us best?
(I suspect there maybe 2 answers 1 for stability & 1 for cutting edge)

In fairness i think i have a fairly good list (arch, debian, just tweaking ubuntu, fedora) and when i get a spare moment im going to install a few and try them out, but it would be nice to see a few different comparisons instead of yet another report saying that ubuntu is the best distro for new users.

Id also ask for a report for which is best for an experienced linux user, but in fairness that will simply become a flame war and any user whos experienced will be able to get similar results with any distro.
