AT&T (formerly Jones Intercable) plays ads for their digital cable service, or for local businesses. They even advertise that you can buy ads on large cable channels (MTV! USA! TNT!) for very low cost. I can't remember the exact wording, but that's the jist of it. So some company that paid big bucks to advertise on MTV gets preempted by "Barry's Figurines, Collectibles, and Hot Grits." I always wondered if this practice is legal.
