Perhaps if we were at the point of expanding out to other star systems easily(abundant energy sources and faster than light travel) immortality would not have many of the inherent downsides. If not, if we are still confined to earth, then I think it does in fact have many many problems, the majority of them "class" related, as you say.
Also - What's the point of stopping aging if you haven't cured cancer? Are the two entirely seperate, and those living beyond 100 would just end up getting it from cancer eventually anyways?
