I've been using it for two days and it is natural for me now to use. A good example for developers : when I'm testing apps and I see a bug, I just type my own command made in 1 hour, "redmine-add bug", and my command guesses from the current html page some context info automatically added to the bug description. Next step is to add a snapshot feature for that.
Of course I could have achieved this task with a plugin, but hey, I just have to type command-editor to correct/improve my code, I don't have to restart my firefox and so on. So it can be also used as a plugin designer, far more faster than the classic way of plugin development.
Ubiquity is mainly for advanced users, but who will complain on slashdot ? I send mail faster, I interact with twitter faster, I digg faster, without having ten plugins installed...

As I'm French, I'm far away from being neutral on this subject. Nowadays, I may add that France is too influent compared to its size. There are 60 millions souls in France, far away behind the Germans, Japaneses or Americans. So what makes France still be a country that can be in the top ten world leaders ? History and culture. History that we know and the culture that we also all know. This cultural aspect gives another perspective to the occidental world. Even if we are wrong, we got another opinion about how the world must evolve, and as we are arrogant, don't want to be one more clone of the American influent and efficient model. We haven't planned to take control of the world, nor being the top economic leaders, nor becoming the largest and more devastating army. Lack of ambitions ? Maybe.
Just make a print version of wikipedia, or other internal products based on the knowledge written by contributors. They can also get money from educational foundations that invest thousands of dollars in knowledge technology. And universities can also pay a part of the bill.
Ads are not the only model of economy to provide a free service on internet. That's google that wants to make us think that.
One shot promotion and special offer websites : On the commercial side, you forgot all the web designers usage that have to choose flash to "sexify" their websites with animations and so on. Several brands like Coca cola use flash to make their promotion website.
Luxuary industry : Most part of the most expensive websites of hotels and restaurants use flash as their primary plateform of promotion.
Cartoonists and design : Flash built its reputation on this, and still used in animation center to produce professional cartoons. (we worked with some studios last year on that). Nothing to do with the web though.

Charting : One of the most important usage of flash nowadays in finance and stock market business : charting.
Look at your google analytics account and you will see one good sample of it. Of course you can do it in HTML, but here flash provides good tools to do it.
Video conferencing : you can stream/broadcast web cam and mic signals with flash. Really efficient and that's the future of flash via cocomo API.
