  1. Re:god damn it on Daily Caffeine Protects Your Brain · · Score: 1

My wife is a clinical psychologist and has often told me that stimulating the brain through activity (puzzles, word games, etc) is known way to stave off the onset of Alzheimer's. Perhaps the mental "wake-up" you get from caffeinated drinks is why this claim has been made?

I'm scared to death of losing my mind at any age, and even happier to hear that my #1 addiction is finally having some positive medical media. I'm curious though - the study as posted only talks about a small amount of caffeine being beneficial relative to the amount I consume daily. I wonder if the effects are nullified, amplified, or otherwise altered by an increased dosage?

  3. The D & David X. Cohen have a similar problem. on New Futurama Movie Coming in June · · Score: 1

Bender's Big Score was fun. Was it as hilarious as the first time we all saw Morbo moved to tears by migrating turtles moving into Holland? No. WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY! GOOD NIGHT! Just like Tenacious D with The Pick of Destiny (which I personally enjoyed), Bender's Big Score plays like a high-five to the long-time fans; trying too hard to fit Al Gore's head in for another gag without giving him any good material. Don't get me wrong, I liked it and will watch the next one. There just was not enough of the sharp & irreverent humor that made the original run worth watching every night, even if it was a repeat, for nearly a decade.

  4. Relevance is everything. on The Battle For Wikipedia's Soul · · Score: 1

Minority rights, with majority rule. Relevance is entirely at the core of the issue - if it isn't relevant to English-speaking Wikipedians, then it won't be represented as thoroughly in text at Wikipedia's English volume. But, if it is relevant, as apparently Pokemon is, then there will be, and rightly should be, volumes of lore pasted on the intar-webs. It isn't as if one article is threatening to destroy another just because people are more interested in subject A than subject B - both are allowed to go about their merry way, so long as they do not violate NPOV, cleanliness, verification of sourcing, etc... other generally agreed-upon standards.

  5. Better than the alternative on Muslim Groups Attempt to Censor Wikipedia · · Score: 1

When "that newspaper" ran "those comics" with the Prophet jokingly illustrated and publicly lampooned, people received death threats and the like. So far, I have heard no such stirring of violence on the behalf of the offended Muslims. They're sending emails and signing online petitions, and in my estimation, that's a pretty mature and democratic way to handle your concerns. Kudos, keep it up. Muslims may not get their way, but they are taking the correct approach on this issue so far, and that is to be commended.
