  1. Look at Mercury Interactive's products on Recording (And Playback) Of User Actions In Java? · · Score: 1

NOTE: I'm writing this on a computer owned by Mercury Interactive.

Mercury (http://www.merc-int.com) has two products that may help you - WinRunner and XRunner. They are commercial only, and I don't know of free demos available. You get a powerful C-like scripting language and a complete IDE for recording, debugging and replaying the scripts. If I say more, I'll be accused of advertising :-)

The more advanced, Windows only, product is WinRunner. It also supports native Windows apps, Deliphi, ActiveX, and probaly other stuff I haven't heard about. Last time I saw it, XRunner was a tiny bit behind on the user-friendly side. It's basically Unix version of WinRunner, (only Solaris, HPUX and AIX - no Linux, but if you show interest, they just might go ahea and do it). Supports Java, Motif and Ilog.

I don't know about pricing of these products, so I can't help you decide if it's on you're budget. You'll have to contact Mercury to see about that.
  2. attractive but attractive on Pros & Cons of Different RAID Solutions · · Score: 1

I do sys admin for a software company with a mixed Unix-NT enviroment. We had some terrible experience with Samba on Unix, and NFS on NT. About a year ago, we purchaced an F720 with 100GB, for around $50,000. Now we have another F720 with a 300GB fibre-channel RAID.We talked with other NetApp customers, and they were extatic about the reliability of these machines. Although I can't say that the filer was %100 reliable, like we heard from smaller sites, we're VERY satisfied with it's performance. In the last year, we've only had 2 occasions with signifficant (> 10 minutes) downtime. As far as speed is concerned: it's usually faster than our local disks...
One of the best things about it is it's simplicity. GUI people use the nice Java applet to control it (it get's better with every release of the OS), and us Unix people have a great command line interface.
If you plan to use the NetApp with lots of clients (about 500 in our case) in a mixed enviroment, the Netword Appliance is probably the most reliable and simple to maintain solution. If you want the fastest RAID array to connect to your mail server, it will simply amaze you :-)
If your budget allows, got for it!

But I still need to use the Hebrew version of Office all the time, and that only runs on the Hebrew version of Windows. Anybody wants to put Hebrew/Arabic support for WINE, maybe?
