There are a large number of middle budget laptops from HP and Dell that comes with rebranded AMD SI and CIK cards which have only GCN 1.0 or 1.1 supported. I have a HP 15-BS576TX which is a June 2017 launch which has AMD 520 discrete card. So, does many models with AMD 520/530 cards which are recognized in amdgpu as HD8xxx cards. The driver performance is most of the times laggard compared to radeon driver. I hope the developers kindly give some attention to this also. The only hope is amdgpu project with these cards. still I am a Gnome user(debian sid fyi) most of the times.just tried archlinux with kdemod (kde-3.5.9) which is modular kde which rocks without the full kde bloat installed!
kudos to Gnome developers and community for this release!guess I will try GARNOME or jhbuild to compile Gnome sometimes soon.

I am on Debian Sid.It still uses sysVinit.I have replaced it with upstart though(available in experimental repository).
initng also is available.I never heard anywhere Debian favours initng:S
FOSS community is not replying to the tastes of M$haft and steve ballmer.whole GNU/Linux users,major corporate Linux users,FOSS companies all should unite and challenge M$ for the S/W patent FUD.
Infact,it is the loose attitude esp of novell who "supposed to have" paid M$haft the patent money etc which divides the community.
I think,still m$ should be trashed with the help of FOSS community and enemies of M$haft as we cannot expect a sane thing from US laws esp as they allows Software patents,DRMs etc laws bent to help monopolists like M$haft etc.
