How can B/W still be a popular format even though color is now the standard. The reason? The sharper image and the mood created by the format. Even if digital becomes the standard for your run of the mill boring crap movie, the serious movies will stick to film for the same reason we still use B/W film.
Go take a photo class and you'll understand why digital sucks.
I'm not just a computer geek, I'm an art major as well.
Have you checked out the difference between the experience of the trailers in the theatre and watching some pixellated version on the screen? I don't care how good you can compress the bugger, the industry is many many years away from reaching the equivalent resolution of film.
As the parent company to A/W, how about maya coming to linux and compiled for every platform under the sun. How many times have I written a comment like this?
Excuse me while I drool over Maya running on Linux/Alpha. Sigh.
One thing that I could find quite important for the recreational computers is power management. What was the last laptop you saw running some flavor of unix with power management? Every volt is precious up there I'd assume so why not use something that won't suck up all the power of the station if you leave it on for a bit?
Between yesterday's article on the Alpha and now this on the G4, I'm approaching a siezure trying to decide what computer to buy this summer. (either way it probably won't be x86. I'm finding that CISC is ready to die now) Hopefully Maya or Lightwave will be out for linux by then. 3DSMax and their dumbass marketing department refuses to port to anything other than WinTel.
This is probably the funniest show to ever appear on a TV screen. While in 1998 it only had a few pilot shows durring the summer, it is now a regular show right after Drew Carrey on wednessday nights. Carey never had any intention of bringing the show to a regular run, but the demand by the public forced ABC to bring the 5 incredibly talented people to us every wednessday. Check it out. It really is the funniest thing ever on TV.
