Everyone seems to have an idea what should be done to M$. So heres my suggestion.
I keep hearing about M$ "inovations". I have yet to see any. So what I suggest is that ALL prior versions of software be released into the public domain. (I would prefer open source, but lets be realistic) This would force M$ to stop talking about inovation and start inovating.
No one will buy a copy of Win98SE if the can get a copy of Win98 First edition for under $5 from cheep bytes. The only way ANYONE will pay is if the new version has something in it that they need. Now we are talking inovation.
Before you start the flames. I really doubt that M$ has any inovation in them.

I seem to recall a couple of months ago seeing a link off www.kde.org for an open source DVD player. Looked like a major hack to get it to work, and since I don't own a DVD player........
Why are you accepting packages for crappy OSes??? An open-sourced package for a crappy OS is just an open-sourced package for a good OS that hasn't been ported yet...
All those who have been asked for a resume in Word format raise your hands. I thought so.
I found a great solution to this problem. Don't ask what fromat they want your Resume in, and just send them an HTML version.
The second company I did this too was so impressed by my creativity, that they called and asked if I could start on monday.. Been there a year now, and just got a raise.
I accidently bought Mandrake Linux v6.0 a few months back, (Was advertized as Red Hat in the paper.), and was an instant convert. By far the easiest Linux to install. Now I want it on ALL my computers. So is there ever going to be a version for other than PC hardware? Sparc in particular would make my day.
I'm with you: I know that this is a radical concept, but I want my web browser to, browse the web. I don't want it to check my E-mail, I don't want it to read news groups, and most of all I don't want it to be my file manager. There is an old saying "Jack of all trades, is master of none." It has never been more true.
I am SO tired of hearing about how Linux is too hard for the average user to install.. Implying that this mythical average user can install Win9x.. Well, as an employed Computer tech, I am here to tell you that the average user can't install anything without help.
Without help this average user might mannage to get Win9x installed, with: no sound no modem running VGA 16 color.
That is as far as the average user gets without help.
Now sit this average user down and get them to install Linux, a recient distro..
I'll tell you what they get: No sound No modem X running at VGA 16 Colour
Looks like exactly the same thing to me, so lets file the dificulty of install argument.
As someone who has been using Linux since the days of Slackware 2.0, I would have to say that Corel screwed up big time, and now the only real question is can they recover from this abomination and produce a decient Linux ditsro.
Some of the problems I have found with the Corel Distro include:
1. The graphical installer. This should have been fixed in a day, by creating and posting a floppy boot disk image that uses VGA16 mode for the install.
2. The version of KDE that they have modified is missing many usefull apps, that are included with every other major distro.
3. Just try installing a few apps downloaded for anyone other than corel and see the nightmare they made by linking against static librarys.
IMHO Corel has lost every shred of credibility they ever had.
Is anyone else thinking this is probably NOT a good idea? Biology is not my area, but IIRC a virus is one of the simplist forms of life, so wouldn't it logicaly follow that they are likely to create a virus that, since it is completely new, we would have NO imunity to.... Someone please tell me I am wrong...
I have found that I got the worst wrist pain using a mouse... At one point I had pain in not only my right wrist, but the elbow and shoulder as well. I checked my mouse, and bought a trackball... Problem solved.

For the record there is no such thing as "TOO big".

I wouldn't be too proud of that... It only takes 1 line, and some patience:
10 GOSUB 10
Try that in GWBASIC, and see what happens. :)

Pretty much says it all. :)
Virii ar small, efficient, and designed to pass unnoticed.

Keep up the good work.
Bzzzzt, wrong answer. It has already been done.
