WW2 OL is an awesome MMOLRPG. If you haven't tried it you should. It is currently running a two week free trial as well.

This puzzles me. I see and understand both sides of this argument and in odd ways, support both sides. I am surprized Ford didn't go the trademark route, it seems that they would get more traction using a trademark infringement (working with GM)suit rather than the "wah wah wah, repointing" argument. Trademark laws although flawed in many ways are relatively clear. And all the freedom of speech stuff holds up only so far when it comes to trademark usage and ownership. Remember back a few years ago here on /. there was that guy who had the "sore Hands" sig, which was his link to his "I hate you" page for his former employer? Part of his downfall was his employer made use of his website against him and used the trademarked references as a slander argument. Couldn't the same apply here?

Does anyone know what GM;s stance on this was? The article doesn't mention it at all.

Thisnk of it this way. M$ looks at it as 2 seperate concurrencies, and two seperate processors using one license. They simply want you to purchase a second license. Then now if you have two, you wouldn't need VNC anyway to run whatever app you were trying to VNC to. you could just run it direct.

. This is no different then your usual CAL (Client Access License) for using a Windows network.

Not quite accurate. I agree with the premise, but M$ is working hard to get away from CAL based licensing and go with a more Ent. Agreement scheme and build on maintenance style agreements. This way they can much more accurately track usage.

Which brings us back to VNC. The M$ CAL scheme such as with SQL licensing, is being changed to processor and connection based, and is easilly fooled by VNC or one of the other mimick apps.

For M$ this is just the beginning, the new .NET suite of apps will be much more "utility unfriendly".

Heh, I'm into auto racing sims in a very big way. I've been playing them and supporting them as my primary hobby for years.

As for any sim, specifically auto racing making me a better driver, I would have to disagree. As with any PC or console game/simulator you quickly realize that you are in fact constantly compensating for and taking advandage of the AI of the simulation. This goes for the big time simulators as well, such as airline pilot training sims. They are still computers and graphics when you boil it all down.

That being said, I tend to think that it may help condition a little more hand/eye coordination, but at the same time, planting your butt in front of a gaming console or PC for endless hours also makes you lazy, and in some opinions sort of an intravert. Is this bad? Dunno, depends on what each persons likes/dislikes are.

I do disagree with Jon on this one though. I think trying to fabricate justification for gaming, other than it simply being a fun and entertaining way to spend some time, is just stretching it to much.

Oh, and not to disagree with the above posters comment about it enhancing driving ability., Here's an interview from NASCAR.Com that has a driver saying basically they don't use them.

I don't think so. Not in my case.

I do think that I would go to a high degree of pain for the cause, but in this case there may be better avenues. Eating this much crap to just hopefully get a little press is a little much. I personally would bow out and focus my time and energy on a more controlled campaign.

That being said, just to add my little opinion to the thread, I think what the authorities are doing here is just plain horrible. They're ignoring the constitution on one hand, while referencing and hiding behind it on the other.

I really don't think so. I for one am not a Linux zealot. I think it's a cool OS that has lots of advantages. I think what they are exploring is that it is becoming quite a player in the global arena, mainly China and the east. If they can niche out a gaming market in any one of these verticles, then porting to others will be easy because all the DBCS or double byte enablement will be done already, trhis make global prting reguardless of OS easier. I think it's much more a P&L delvelopment effort, rather than technical choice.
