Just like pressing Start to shut down Windows is personal preference, but yet you see a ton of people bitching about it.

I'm voicing valid concerns over something I don't like about a product I may eventually be interested to use. If the designer doesn't like that, he's a poor one to begin with.

Obviously I don't mean work related talking, I mean talking to other people for the sake of talking to other people (Aka slack off). I talk to people as a living, so I certainly know that it's a required skill.

Well, it's obvious that somebody who works 80 hours per week is going to do more work than somebody who does 40, but both employees can have the same "ratio" of work done per hour. However the average 80 hours worker is probably gonna be more productive either way because they probably consider work pretty important in their life :)

  19. Re:No, *THESE* are slaves on Apple Sued For Turning Workers Into Slaves · · Score: 1

The problem with that opinion is that it has nothing to do with the amount of hours somebody works per week. You can work 80 hours per week and be a slacker who accomplishes nothing, who takes 10 coffee breaks a day, who plays solitaire half his working time, and who isn't competent.

The amount of work you do per week means absolutely shit-all. What matters is, do you actually _work_ at work, or do you slack off? Whether you do it 80 hours a week or 35 hours a week doesn't make you special, it just gives you a better pay in the end. I've met people who work 35 hours a week and are much less slackers than some overly paid consultant that you see outside talking with other people instead of sitting at his desk and performing his daily monkey-typing activities.

By "other claims" I meant the non-sense ones like "If you don't work 80 hours a week you're a slacker and have nothing to do in life". I just said I agreed that some people do work a lot of hours per week and that it wasn't uncommon.

So claiming that Windows doesn't crash every day is being a Windows evangelist now? Nice trolling there.

There's really no reason why Windows should BSOD except from faulty hardware or drivers. I know the Linux evangelists like to say that Windows crash every time you double click, but seriously believing so is pure ignorance. To answer your question, there are no mythical "stable drivers" that work 100% for everyone, hosted something on the fairy-driven internet. You either have hardware that has proper drivers or not. I happen to have good video card drivers and good motherboard chipset drivers.

  25. Re:Software should not cost more than hardware. on Microsoft Tries a New Ad Agency · · Score: 1

    8. Stability. Linux (properly configured by somebody that knows what they are doing) is rock solid. My server runs Debian etch. It has never so much as thought about crashing. Windows? I had an XP box running 24/7 a while back. It went down roughly once a week. This was on the exact same hardware as what Etch is on now. Maybe it was a fluke. Only thing I know is, when I rdesktop'ed into it, it was a crap shoot whether I'd get connection refused or not. That is infuriating. No longer a problem.

I agree with all of your points except that one - Windows can be just as stable as your average Linux install if you do not have terrible drivers. It's really a matter of having stable drivers. I regularly run my Windows box for months without rebooting and I've never had any problems. The rest of your points are accurate, however.
