They are completely naked and despite the protests of my Bible-thumping neighbors, the beavers are welcome to remain on my property & be as naked as a jaybird if that's what they desire.
>>>would be considered child porn under the modern laws of at least US and UK, and possibly most European countries
FALSE. In the United States there are tons of books for sale, and nudist sites online, which contain naked images of children. The SCOTUS does not considered porn until there is sex, and simple nudity is protected by the First Amendment.
I predicted it! Just yesterday I said it's only a matter of time until wikipedia get filtered by the Australian. Well I was off by about 10,000 miles but I was right that SOME government would eventually filter wikipedia & suppress freedom of knowledge.
And I agree with the parent poster. If the UK Government is going to stupidly censor the internet, then block the whole damn country until the UK citizens rise-up and demand "freedom" and "liberty" from their Parliamentarian Oligarchs.
Wow. It's a naked girl. Contrary to being insulted, I think it's beautiful. The naked human body is a testament to the Creator's majesty and perfection, not a sin, and I see no reason why we should cover-up a naked human anymore than we cover-up a naked deer or naked bear or naked seal. There is *nothing* shameful here. "Because God created it, the human body can remain nude and uncovered and preserve intact its splendor and its beauty." - Pope John Paul II.
NetEnforcers says that this year through Oct. 13, it helped shut down 1.2 million seller pages on eBay
Frak. That's a lot of takedowns and I bet most of them were completely harmless and legal. I had one of my auctions yanked last year, not by these people but by some lawfirm in California because they BELIEVED my copy of Star Trek TNG season 1 was an illegal copy. I called this lawfuck...er, firm and tried to reason with the man in charge but he refused to listen. He just kept repeating that if I list TNG-1 a second time, he'll prosecute and yelled loud enough for my secretary to overhear the threats.
I ignored him and relisted it anyway... fortunately the threat turned out to be the babbling of a power-tripping, windbag lawyer... it sold and my customer was happy. I hate corporations, I hate lawyers, and I hate politicians that serve corporate masters.
NetEnforcers alerts its clients including Sony Corp..... they can allege that the discounter's use of the product's name or image constitutes trademark or copyright infringement, in an effort to force the seller to stop listing the discount....
So if I have a brand-new, never-used Sony PS3 and for whatever reason I decide to duimp it for cash, I might list it for $200 on amazon oe Ebay. BUT then along come the "netenforcers" claiming I violated the MAP, or I violated copyright, or some such bs, and yank my listing straight off Amazon/Ebay.
They shouldn't be able to block my sale of my product! I can set any damn price I feel like setting, even as low as a penny, because *I* own it.
Neither does Obama - which is probably why he doesn't care if he's listening to an Ipod, a Zune, an Insignia, a Sony Walkman, or some other generic brand.
This is about catching other types of criminals like people distributing images of child sex, people discussing marijuana growing, people discussing anti-government ideas (i.e. like the LP), and so on. It's a way to circumvent the Constitution's requirement for a search warrant.
Well let's see. Each item takes about 15 minutes to list, and then print a label and package. And I sold about 200 items this past year, so 3000 minutes/50 hours to recover $5000.
Well the way Ebay is setup now, it's easier to make money through BUYING than selling* and that's just wrong.
* - buy an item on ebay - claim item not received (get instant refund) - or claim item damaged even though nothing's wrong with it - return empty envelope using tracking or delivery confirmation & get refund - - take all your stolen booty and either keep it for personal use, or sell it on amazon/ebay/craigslist - and that's how a Buyer can make more money than a seller - through Ebay's buyer-friendly scam system
Oh, and no I'm not in either the Baltimore or Philadelphia market (I'm in the Lancaster market), although I've been watching both of those cities for the last 35 years, because I'm within 50 miles of their transmitters.
Now because of the FCC's idiocy, TV Band/whitespace devices will be able to broadcast directly over my favorite Balto-Philly stations. Sucks.
>>>But that does not mean it is ok to watch it without paying for it.
Disagree. EVERY customer has a right to either (1) testdrive the product prior to purchase or (2) return the product if it's crap. Since the media does not allow number 2, I choose number 1. I download it first, I try it, and if it's any good then I buy it.
I find it unacceptable that media companies won't allow people to do what even car stealerships will allow (a free testdrive). It's as if they are afraid their product sucks so badly that it won't sell so they br you from even a cursory glance. Which means I would have thrown-away $50 for Galactica 1980.
Also I don't think I'm "trolling". I'm expressing an opinion that just happens to be contrary to your own. Please recognize the difference & respect my right to disagree with you without being insulted.
False. There are some rights that are a *natural* consequence of being a human being. Such as the right to not be enslaved, or the right to use your brain, or the right to speak your thoughts, or the right of self-defense against thieves/murderers. *Study Greek, Roman, and Scottish philosophy.*
And as a result of those rights being natural, they come from within each individual. Both natural rights and power comes from the people and is devolved upon government with our consent... not the other way around.
To elaborate: "Fuck em" is what Harriet Tubman & the owners of safety houses probably said when she stolen slaves from southern masters and led them to the north. It's what Ghandi said when he arranged protests against the British oppression. It's what Rosa Parks probably thought when she illegally sat in the white section of the bus - "fuck the law; it's wrong; I will do as we please".
"Fuck em" is an effective method of protest against unjust laws.
"If you have a point commander, PLEASE make it." - Ambassador G'Kar
I didn't really understand what you were saying. To me saying "Fuck em" is a perfectly valid to thing to say when dealing with a tyrant or tyrannical oligarchy. It makes clear exactly what you think of the oppression you are experiencing & what you'd like to do to said tyrant.
I don't see any difference between the web of 1998 versus the web of 2008. Same underlying protocols, same tendency for people to create personal websites or waste a lot of time in chats/forums, and the same favorite website (scifi.com). Things are faster (750k versus 50k) but otherwise my experience is the same for the so-called Web 1.0 versus 2.0
Let's stop wasting time talking about theory, and let's discuss real world experience. I've recovered about $1000 over this past year..... about $750 through paypal disputes, and $250 through direct credit card chargebacks. In both cases it was as simple as providing a Delivery Confirmation to paypal.com or the credit card company to prove the item had been returned to the seller.
Easy.
The laws are written to protect the customer, and both paypal and the credit companies comply with those laws. That's why it's so ridiculously easy to recover your money just by providing a tracking or DC number.
GALACTICA 1980 IS A PIECE OF SHIT AND NOT WORTH EVEN A 5 DOLLAR RENTAL. I have a right to not throw away money on junk. You'll understand btter when you actually have to work for a living instead of relying on the bank of mommy & daddy for your money. I would have hated to have thrown-away even a single penny on the Galactica 1980 excrement.
Still sounds like a lot of nonsense. In the 80s I had my own personal BBS which I used to keep in touch with friends. In 1995 I converted that to a personal website to keep in touch with friends. Now in 2008 I have both the website and a facebook for keeping in touch with friends.
Where's the change that justifies a version number alternation from 1.0 to 2.0???
Yes of course the chargeback should be last resort, to be used only when the corporate asses refuse to issue a refund.
As for the police issue, I've not had any problems so far. (1) Most companies are located out-of-state so I'm not within their jurisdiction and (2) it's not worth the cost of filing court documents/hiring a lawyer for a $100 or less item. The company just lets it go and chalks it up to "shrinkage".
Just once I'd like to see one of these companies or RIAA make the mistake of suing someone with lots of power or money:
- like one of Obama's kids - or Paris Hilston
It would be funny to see the RIAA/amazon battling it out in court against someone with billion dollar pockets and/or the U.S. army to back them up. It might be similar to Custer's last stand with RIAA playing the part of Custer.
I have beavers in my backyard.
They are completely naked and despite the protests of my Bible-thumping neighbors, the beavers are welcome to remain on my property & be as naked as a jaybird if that's what they desire.

I don't know about the UK, but in the U.S. the Supreme Court has defined porn as including sex.
This Virgin Killer album is not sex, therefore not porn. It's just "simple nudity" and protected by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
I predicted it! Just yesterday I said it's only a matter of time until wikipedia get filtered by the Australian. Well I was off by about 10,000 miles but I was right that SOME government would eventually filter wikipedia & suppress freedom of knowledge.

German poster???
Best Buy only has stores in North America, not Germany.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
An MP3 player is an MP3 player - you don't have to use an Ipod. Me, I use an Insignia that I got for free from Best Buy and it works just fine.
This isn't about terrorism.
This is about catching other types of criminals like people distributing images of child sex, people discussing marijuana growing, people discussing anti-government ideas (i.e. like the LP), and so on. It's a way to circumvent the Constitution's requirement for a search warrant.

FBI agent Elliott Ness dealt with the mafia by using lots of guns.
I still think that's the best way to deal with the MAFIAA/RIAA. Cut off the head and the snake dies.
I'm still not seeing it.
