I have a 750k connection* and it works just fine. I don't see any reason to go to a higher speed. *(I could go to 6000k but voluntarily limit myself to 750.)
That was the case when a good friend committed suicide (although some of us still suspect it was an accident, not intentional). He had his password stored in his computer, so it was as simple as turning on the machine, opening the Email client, and sending a message to all his friends on his contact list.
Those who received the message were asked to pass the word onto other forums/friends not included in the list. We also updated his webpage to let visitors know he had passed away.
Even if they don't, this gives a false sense of security.
"if I can deliver a signal to that PC that turns it off, hey, I'm good now." Um, no, you're not. The thief can remove the hard drive and connect it to another PC to read its content.
Mating Sapiens to Neanderthal would be like mating a horse with a zebra. It might produce something but it would be a mule (sterile).
As for brain size Neanderthal only produced simple tools - which is one of the reasons why Sapiens conquered Europe so easily. Sapiens' more advanced tools killed off most of the wildlife and gradually drove Neanderthal into starvation.
And finally Neanderthal's body is designed for an ice age. It would not work well in a temperate climate.
There's a more fundamental right - right to own one's body and one's labor. If I sit down and spend a year of my life writing a book, and citizens copy the book without payment (whether by computer or using a 1700s-era printing press), then they've stolen my year's labor without just compensation.
In effect, they've turned me into a slave.
Of course in that situation I'd quickly grow tired of being abused, and stop writing. And that means a decrease in the output of creative arts.
Nope... they don't have a collective consciousness either. They are all individuals.
The collective consciousness was the key Borg ingredient that made them so scary & unstoppable. They could repair their ship simply by thinking. Also they were the antithesis of the individuality that the Federation embraced. If you join the Borg, "you" no longer exists. It becomes we.
I'm not aware of any Doctor Who villain that had the same "we are all one organism" feature.
Cybermen don't have a collective consciousness. They are all individuals... each one with a separate and distinct brain. (At least that's how it was in the Old Doctor Who, therefore Star Trek writers couldn't have copied the idea.)
Bending-over and taking it? If you lose all your cases in court, and you're not willing to use the gun to shoot a tyrannical RIAA CEO, then that's the only recourse I see left.
"...we learn about under-age producers sharing their self-made images with other young people for recreational use, thus making prohibitions unworkable and pronouncements concerning who is "exploiting" who extremely hard to define."
If you take a photo of your 16-year-old self naked, who are the police supposed to arrest?
Also one needs to define what is meant by "child".
A 5 year old is definitely a child and the thought of a 5 year old engaging in sex is disgusting. However can 16-year-old Miley Cyrus who is clearly an adult woman (large chest and capable of reproduction) be called a "child"??? Certainly not. She's a minor by law, but still a young adult. Not a child.
And what about when Jamie Lynn Spears' husband took pictures of her naked 17 year old body? Should he be arrested for producing "child porn"? Given that Jamie Lynn just gave birth to a baby, she's clearly NOT a child in any way, shape, or form. It's UNDERAGE nudity, not child nudity.
>>>On the cracking-down bit: Germany recently made it illegal to sell or otherwise distribute pornography showing a person who looks younger than 18, even if everybody's of legal age. >>>
The U.S. Congress passed a similar law. The U.S. Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional because there's no crime committed if the naked person is an adult, or if the porn is merely a drawing or computer-generated. No child has been harmed. Perhaps the E.U. Court of First Instance will do the same?
Yep, but I'll be even more impressed when they invent little tiny robots to clean the cholesterol out of my arteries. That way I can eat artery-clogging pizza and not feel guilty about it!
The E.U. is hardly open. I mean, you can't even wear an attractive Swastika pin without getting arrested by the polizei. Where's the freedom in that?;-)
But seriously there are a lot of ways that the E.U. is less free than America. Particularly in the area of self-defense against criminals (you cannot). The taxes are ridiculously high (60 cents/gallon versus $4/gallon) and overall just a more-restrictive society.
In which case The People will take action to silence the Corporations' tyrannical CEOs.

No. The most-likely problem is the ISP will try to block bittorrent usage. Even for legal downloads like Linux. As a form of protest, you then attempt to grab lots and lots of copies of Linux (via bittorrent) as a way to protest, and sue the company on the grounds that they are blocking legal access to free software and violating contract/neutrality.

-1. Inappropriate and rude humor.

Copy protection to prevent my copying of a brand-new CD is fine. Taking over my computer's control so I can't copy other CDs is not.

Yes because banning drugs has clearly stopped the criminals from getting them. /end sarcasm. What makes you think banning guns would work any better?
Less guns = less people shot == more defenseless people = more stabbings, beatings & stealing
RIAA cares?
Which one? I don't recall any "collective machine-based villain" in Doctor Who?
Bending-over and taking it? If you lose all your cases in court, and you're not willing to use the gun to shoot a tyrannical RIAA CEO, then that's the only recourse I see left.
These quotes are interesting: http://newgon.com/wiki/Research:_Child_Pornography#Child_Producers - "Teenagers are becoming major makers of child pornography in Victoria[Australia]." (taking photos of themselves in the mirror, or of their girl/boyfriends)

Yes and I explained what procedure to follow to stop paying taxes... even the automatic income tax deductions.
Maybe this is why I keep getting fired. I refuse to give-up my individualism for the corporate collective. ;-)
