  1. Battlebots on More Junkyard Wars · · Score: 1

Thank GOD for Robot Wars. It is nice to other skills than just out and out bash and smash. Battlebots needs a little tweaking. Leave it to us Americans. Big Brother, Survivor and now BattleBots. Sheesh! Does all our programming come for overseas ideas?

I agree. At least the robots (or RC devices as some would argue) are judged on something other than out and out smash 'em. Robot Wars is a better competition. Leave it to those Brits. I also like the house robots. Looks like they've added a new one for this season.

They also have a pretty cool website.

Oracle on Linux may be the best choice. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT skimp on hardware. Some of the Linux platforms advertised in Linux Journal would be you r best bet for industrial strength hardware.

    Much Success!!!!

No Delphi was/is a development IDE from what used to be known as Borland Software (now Inprise). It was there answer to M$ Visual Basic IDE and actually quite good. I'm in favor of having and executable rather that some VB run time code.

It is based on Object Pascal.

You are not the only one who owns some stock. They have done quite well in the last six months. One of the better performers.

My only concern is that I hope this doesn't screw up the Time Warner Road Runner Cable Modem service. I just signed up and I want to use my Linux box for my home network. You mention Linux to some of these guys (ISPs) and they throw up the great wall of china.

I am a parent and I frequent Slasdot. I think I fear me, my wife or my daughter being tracked by some government agency than my any of us being snatched by some *sicko*.

A little more erosion of personal privacy and freedom in the name of the greater public good. Sheesh! If they implant them at birth will you get the choice to say no? Could you possbly be black listed as a subversive if you refuse?

No thanks. I think I'll rely on prayer.

  9. Re:TPM on David Brin on Star Wars: TPM · · Score: 1

I think the Brin's review was the most honest assessment of the movie. A friend and I were having a discussion about the movie and quite frankly I think Lucas goes too far with the virgin birth thing. The 'force' has been changed from a zen/martial arts kind of thing into some pseudo-nuevo religion thing. And that the Empire Strikes Back was the best of series (film making wise , anyway) Gotta admit thou TPM has some great effects. So when are we gonna see a movie with great effects AND a great plot.

Hmm... maybe I should have gone on to film school..

Simon I think that you have hit the nail on the head. I am an American and I do think our way of life is worth defending. Its been a long time since a battle has taken place on American shores and I believe that some of my fellow Americans have taken all this 'freedom' for granted.

You really hit the nail on the head on this one. I am constantly impressed with the viewpoints expressed here on slashdot. This article is one of the reasons that I keep coming back.

Hmmm... what if GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler actually gave cars away free....

The very idea that the M$ house of ideas actually got a patent on cascading style sheets really points a finger at the US Courts and bureacracy putting an exclamation point on the fact that they don't have the foggiest idea about net technologies nor are they on firm ground when making decisions about it.

Makes one wonder on what the outcome will be in the M$ v DOJ case
