  1. How does one make ROMs? on Open Letter to the Emulation Community · · Score: 1

SNES emulators aren't so hard as N64 emulators to make, so there's lots out there. Two emulators i recommend are Snes9x and ZSNES, search for them on altavista or something. I believe the liscense for SNES games says you can get the ROMs from anywhere, so long as you own the game. ROMs can be attained at a lot of warez sights if you care to suffer them. I use Snes9x, but it doesn't run Super Metroid or Star Fox, my two favorite games. I've never used ZSNES, but i've heard its good and it runs Super Metroid and Star Fox. If you've got a 486, you might have a bit of trouble with the emulators. I have a Pentium 90, and some games like Street Fighter can get pretty choppy on it on Snes9x.

  3. I disagree on Open Letter to the Emulation Community · · Score: 1

Making an N64 emulator, i'm sure, is A LOT of work. The programmers aren't gonna spend the hours that they did programming the thing so they could play games. They did it because they wanted to program. Most non-coders never can seem to understand that programming can be fun. Maybe they did share the program so that people could play ROMs, but i think they did it more for the fact that they make a great piece of work and they wanted others to see it and get use from it.

  4. bladders are important! on Lab Grown Internal Organs-Succesful Animal Transplant · · Score: 1

If you don't have a bladder, you have to drill a hole in your stomach and let your piss drain into a bag. I forgot what this procedure is called, but i've heard that it stinks like HELL!

  5. Yeah, try boycotting MS... on Boycott Against Pentium III Expanded · · Score: 1

If MS embeds that shit in Windows 95 or Office, who's gonna boycott THEM (exept for the few who know better than to use MS in the first place). Of course i'm set, 'cause i only use OSS, so if someone puts ID shit in thier software i'll just take it back out.

  6. The only real solution! on More on Sightsound.com's Patent · · Score: 1

Burn the goddam patent office, burn all that copyright shit down, too. And while you're at it, kill all those fucking people who get rich by being parasites on the poor, and not contributing to society at all.

The fact that patents have a limited time span doesn't mean shit when an algorthym is outdated 2 years after it's made

  9. CDs should be $2-$3 on The Music Industry and the MP3 · · Score: 1

Okay, lets play with math. I pay dollar for a blank CD, then use a roadrunner internet account and a cd writer to get an album on that cd. If there was a good way to get like $1-$2 to the artists who recorded this, then that would make the price for a cd $2-$3. If they, say, sell 100,000 cds they get 100 to 200 thousand dollars. That's enough to keep food in thier mouths... and that doesn't include the revenue they can get from concerts, t-shirts, bongs, etc. they can get money from. Damn, i would love to know where all this money goes for these $17 cds i keep buying. Advertising, maybe...
And another good thing about MP3s is the band wouldn't have to sell thier souls to be heard. The couple hundred cds you may have in your cd collection is only the tip of the iceberg of great music, because there are so many bands out there who do not want to or aren't good at selling themselves to the record labels. With MP3s i can listen to any damn band with the technology to put thier muzak on the net.

  10. Redhat and the GNOME docs on Infoworld reports on Redhat's choice of GNOME · · Score: 1

I can't say this single thing means that Redhat wants to take over GNOME or Linux or anything else, but it sure has made me on my guard. Have you read the new GNOME documentation, for beginners and stuff... it was made by a guy at RHAD and it totally denies the existance of any linux dist other than Redhat. Sure, i don't mind that they only give install instructions for Red Hat if they don't have the time for other dists, but how well the fact that other dists exist is left out of the docs really makes me think...

  11. re-write-itis on Enlightenment and The Rasterman · · Score: 1

I guess it all depends on your system and how you use it. When i was using .14 (note this is not the same with .15) it used to crash at least once every few days, and there was a bug that kept getting worse and worse until i eventually had to stop using it where closing a window made me need to reboot my machine. Note: .15 is a lot more stabler and and a lot more usable (iconization, finally!).
