  1. i like be on Be, Inc. Says Cash Can't Last Past Q2 · · Score: 1

i would have installed be if it either ran on my 68k mac or my g3 imac. apparently there is no g3 support because apple wont tell them how. i wonder if that could change if they went opensource. i love to run be.

  2. correct me if i'm wrong but, on Microsoft Clarifies Jim Allchin's Statements · · Score: 1

if microsoft doesnt like opensource, then they don't opensource their products, right? no one's telling them to, why should they be able to tell companies not to? i'm not exactly familiar with either the GPL or BSD liscences, but i assume that a company or developer knows exactly what they are doing when they release a peice of software under one of them; if someone writes a program, it should be used exactly as the author wants it to be, and if they want it opensource, who's gonna tell them they cant do that? that's the way i see it. as far as microsoft goes, i've never liked or even respected them, but they do have a lot of credibility (as about 80% or therabouts of desktop computers are runing their software), so they may have a big impact on this issue.

  3. i like mac. but... on Dumping LinuxPPC For MacOS X? · · Score: 1

the only os i have ever used on my home computers is mac os; i considered trying out linux, but i didnt have enough motivation. but with os x, where it looks like it will be a reliable product from a company i (mostly) trust, i think there will be more of a reason for me to learn unix, in general. i already have installed and played around with darwin, and it looks like something i could get into. ps. did anybody notice in the article, where it says "grab a cup of cocoa" , do you think that was an intentional reference to os x's "cocoa" layer? that's all i could think about.
