I disagree with your statement about thermal inkjets using electrostatic effects to direct the inkjet drop. All of major players in the home thermal inkjet market use only heat to eject the drop.
I do remember my physics book talking about the kind of printer that uses electrostatic effects, and they do exist, but I have never seen a printer use in person. I happen to know better now.
I write firmware myself and I believe you should use the correct debugging method for the problem at hand. I use an IDE/Debugger most of the time, but I also use a logic analyzer and sometimes create log files and send them out over a port.
I don't understand how people can say one method is best for every job.
How did this get modded up? Dell is going to sell Lexmark printers...with the Dell name on them. So this is good news for Dell after all, just not in the way you were saying.

This is not even about ink cartridges, only toner...
Also, you can still buy a non prebate cartridge that you can refill all you want.
Every time they post about this subject, no one seems to notice this.

Stop stating facts and being rational, they will laugh you out of here.

From the instructions in the driver, USB is supported in the Z53. That being said, I have not tried it, my Z53 is connected to LPT1 on my SuSE box.
