well the organ thing would'nt realy work because you would simply become acustom to haveing it in your system. This is'nt mearly a psycosomatic effect, your body actualy starts accounting for it being there. if you take the same amount of caffene every day for a week, the caffene will no longer have the effect of wakeing you up, your body will it in ahead of time (but if you take the caffen away it throws everything all out of wack, generaly it gives you a headache)
but hey, It sounds good.
It could take a little while to overtake Mp3, or it might not at all. I don't think that that was the point of the project though.
As long as we have it as an alternitive in the background so that if mp3 gets bitchified we can switch over quickly its doing its job.
guntella was not very well known until napster started to have some problems, then all of a sudden it got a huge boost in users.
When mp3 starts to a)fall appart or b)charge serious $$ ogg will be addopted faster than you can notice it.
I was lucky enough to hear one of the guys who engineers for the company speak at an IEEE meeting. Apparently There are a few major advantages to launching from the Pacific. By doing there launches this way they can have all of the equipment that they need transported to a loading dock in a relatively urban setting. Additionally it allows all of the personnel to live in a relatively urban setting while they work on the rockets. But the biggest advantage is that they can transport the rocket to the launch sight by boat (and the launch sight it in international waters) Apparently the U.S. gets pissed off if you launch rockets on real estate that is even remotely habitable, Buying a launch sight and getting the rocket there would be a MAJOR expense.
There set up is also pretty cool, they have two "ships" one is an unmanned oil platform where they keep/launch the rocket, the other is a control ship where a crew of (mostly Russian) engineers controls the launch. They seem to use a lot of Russian parts as well.
Well, I can't speak for bleem, but I know that VGS for the mac does check if its a valid playstation game. further it is not the black color that the playstations have is not related to the way they check for fake CDs (they look for a specific bad memory block) my 2
I have heard many people mention the whole thing about apples biz scheam being centerd on profits from their hardware. Some of us Mac users may recall how bad they started choaking when they let a few cloans into the market. The truth is that apple would probably die if they released their OS even at a signifigant price hike. -- BUT-- It would be easy for them to make a small change or two so that it would only run corectly on a specific chipset after reciveing a signal from the hardware. So they could release a cheep (but slightly overpirced) box that had all company selected hardware (makeing compatibility easyer) and still turn a profit. It would be difficut for anyone who did'nt know what they were doing to copy OSX and use it on thier on x86 box. Seems like a clever plan to me.
So, how long till they have mod chips out for these babys? On the other hand I suppose its kind of a pain in the ass to Burn copys of their games on DVDs, but what about people who want to keep useing their whole colections of "backed up" games for their PS? I would also exspect that they put some serious protection in it (given how annoyed they were with the original mod chip) anyone have any info?
Does the fact that they are clameing to be able to do something revolutionary but give not specific details make anyone wonder about how well this works. 3D is one of those things that can be done poorly or can be done well, but I have this nagging feeling that if they had it working well they would say a little more about its effects. This sort of thing just makes me suspicious
come to think of that it would work realy well with telemarketers. given that they are not allowed to hang up on you all you would need would be something that sounded even vaugly human-like, and that could carry on a conversation at about the level of eliza.
Another way to make a bot like that more usefull would be to have it store questions that it had no answer for, and try asking other people the same question. It could email questions to tech suport and learn the responces, or it could go and ask some of the "officials" when they come online later. you could also have it remember who asked the question, and if they showed up again the bot could contact them and give them the responce it found.
