That is assuming that the driver is also responsible for making sure recording equipment is functioning and on at all times, IN ADDITION TO paying attention to the road/driving. I find that unsafe. Personally, I would imagine that the driver simply drives and an engineer of some sort is monitoring the equipment to make sure that nothing breaks and that if something does break, that it is fixed or that the recoding equipment is powered down properly.

Heck...it is easy. Just get a business connection and be done with it. I get one from Cox cable, I get static IP, I can run any servers I want to, no blocked ports, no caps, no limits... only about $70/mo. Emphasis mine.

Just because the parent didn't use "only" doesn't mean the grandparent didn't.

I'm pretty sure that cars are much more dangerous to kids than dogs, but nobody is suggesting that we ban cars. Cars are noisy and annoying. I think they should be banned. And don't get me started on guns! Sure, guns don't kill people, so they should be okay. But BULLETS. Those things are DEADLY!
In fact, so are viruses. We should ban those. But how do viruses spread? People. CHILDREN.

Therefore, for the sake of the children, we should ban children!

In all seriousness though, something does need to be done with automobiles. Too many idiots have access to them.

Totally true! Another example: Sega. They had it ALL over Nintendo. What happened there?!? I'll grant you that, but only because Sonic 3 and Knuckles kicked ass. However....

Sega Genesis vs Nintendo... Sega is YEARS ahead
Admittedly, the Genesis (Mega Drive to all you people not in the States) Kicked the NES's ass all over, the SNES WAS pretty innovative what with Mode 7 graphics (Not seen in the Genesis without the Sega/Mega CD addon). Also, individual carts could have expansion chips in them (IE: Super FX).

Sega Game Gear vs Game Boy... again, Sega is YEARS ahead Yeah, if you didn't mind a tragically short battery life. If you used an AC adapter, you have little more than a very small Sega Master System with a tiny built-in screen. Which was still pretty neat, but not exactly like the hours of fun that could be had with a gameboy, four AA batteries, and Tetris.

Sega Nomad... an invention of brilliance years ahead of its time (I've labeled its lack of success due to being too brilliant for the time period. They needed to take more baby steps in the market - not huge leaps.)
You're joking, right? It's little more than a portable Genesis/MegaDrive. It's battery life was even more tragic than the Game Gear's. Still, portable is portable, and Sonic 1 on the Nomad is way superior to Sonic 1 Genesis for the GBA..... I'll conceed this point on the grounds that the Nomad runs Sonic 1 better than my GBA.

I'll also have to bring up the Sega Dreamcast. Admittedly, I have not owned a Dreamcast (though I hear the homebrew scene is thriving, so I may just pick one up), however it more or less was the first console to have anything near reliable online play (well, assuming the Wikipedia article is correct). Also, it had Sonic Adventure 2, which kicked ALMOST as much ass as S3&K did (ALMOST. No super sonic in regular levels was a bit of a downer). Shame the PS2 killed it off, it really could have gone somewhere. Aside from that, I have no further arguments.
  5. Bad Idea. on A Super-Efficient Light Bulb · · Score: 1

If they could get street lights that can turn on and off quickly, then it might be possible to add a noise or motion sensor so that a strip of street lights turn on automatically when needed. Ever go from a dark room to a well-lit room, or suddenly turned on the lights in a dark room? How about stared down the lights of oncoming traffic? Generally, going from being surrounded by dark to not being surrounded by dark means your eyes have to adjust. And that means you are temporarily blinded for a period of time. Lights which turn on/off based on people being nearby are a bad idea for precisely this reason: it is dark, your eyes adjust, then WHAM. And suddenly your eyes have to adjust to the light and you're worse off than if you were already adjusted to the light OR if you were in the dark. So yeah, not the best idea.
