  1. more rocket pages here on Rockets of Doom From Carmack And Friends · · Score: 5

Have a look at the water rocket page and a very nice page about the rocket equations. There is also a good page on howstuffworks

  2. Solvable games on Automated Chess Battling · · Score: 1

If you guys are interested in solvable games, then you should have a look at this thesis It describes games such as go-moku , connect four, othello and checkers. I think that they use partly brute force and partly clever analysis of the games.

  3. Write a go program and win US$1.6 million. on Automated Chess Battling · · Score: 1

At the moment I think that the best programs are rated around 7 kyu. Here is a link to the annual championships . Every year the ing foundation offers a grand price if someone can write a program that can beat a pro, but this will not happen in near future.

  4. poll idea: how many aim users on your roatser on AOL/gaim/Jabber Situation Explained · · Score: 1
I just started using Gabber and I was thrilled to find that I had a single friend that used msn instead of icq. This way I could convince myself that I actually gained from using gabber instead of icq. On the onther hand I cannot remember ever meating an aim user.

What is the number of aim users in the world. Does it really matter what these guys do or don't? (Please don't flame me for my ignorance, I just wanted to pose a question )

  5. I thought of quitting it for the same reason on Jabber As The Coming IM Standard? · · Score: 1
I have been using Gabber for some time, and I am kind worried about not having my adress list on my harddisc. If the server dies I will lose all my friends. I have also wondering if it is easy for me to change server. There is no button for this in gabber 0.8.1, but now they made a new version. Maybe the new version makes it easy to do.

I have much trust in the jabber team, but I don't like the fact that they have my icq and msn passwords on their harddisc. I don't know if it could have been done in another way, but it makes me feel insecure.

  6. Could we tranlate the filesystem to xml? on Linux Promises, Apple Delivers · · Score: 1

If someone has a lot of spare time they should start a project of writing scripts that can translate all the linux files to xml. This way it would be a lot easier for the good people at kde and gnome to make a nice GUI menusystem.

  7. Danish: mail- sms on AOL Opens ICQ? Well, Kinda. · · Score: 1
In Denmark there seem to be a mail sms gateway (thenumber@sms.tdm.dk), so icq -> danish sms should be easy, and perhaps we could use procmail to include sms->iqc in the client too.

BTW I just swapped to jabber. I like the idea of a serverbased system. It is easier to include icq/msn/aim (and perhaps sms) in the server once and for all, and let all the different clients benefit from it. This makes it easier to make a lot of different clients, so that everybvdy can have the functionality they want. Personally I looking forward for an emacs jabber to arrive.

  8. Jabber rocks (for and against) on AOL Opens ICQ? Well, Kinda. · · Score: 1
Lets me summarise some of the great advantages and slight disadvantages of Jabber. For
    • The client communicates with a server through XML, so client writing should be easy
    • Servers can rout your messages to ICQ, MSN and AIM so you will not lose your friends by swapping to Jabber.
    • Peer to peer is a Buzz-word: Impress your fellow nerd
    Against
    • Everything is still under development, so my Gabber (gtk jabber) client is a bit unstable at the moment, even though it shows progress.
    • There is no emacs client (Goodbye sweet eicq)
    • It seems that all your informations (including icq passwords) are stored in the server, so you have to trust the server (or install your own)

Now the one plate puts arms on the surface of the other other plate. Afterwards you put each plate in front of a plate without arms. Repeating this proces will generate exponential growth. You would also get exponential growth if you had somehow put the arms in water and added new unnassembled arms, to maintain the same concentration of assembled arms.

The problem with an editor like emacs is that the extensions are written by people that allready know the program by heart. They don't care if it ends up being somewhat difficult to use. I don't think you can get extendability alongside with userfriendliness. Somehow you have to choose

The programmers of this server have probably done a good job, but we really an engine that can be used to create a lot of different games.
