It's not mandatory, and it used to be a lot more common, but a lot of truckers often had co-drivers... One would sleep in the cabin while the other would drive. I spend a lot of time on the interstate and I'd say about 1 in 6 of the trucks I pass have a passenger. Now granted, they may be hitchikers, wives, etc... And yeah, it's not exactly safe for me to be looking up into trucks as I pass on the wrong side.

Sorry about his experience, that punishment doesn't fit the crime and it's unfortunate. I chose not to do drugs. I knew they were illegal. I knew they'd make me loose self control. As a result I didn't go to jail.

We live in a society were people have to make rules that are for the general good of the society. The Majority would rather be safe even if it denies the minority the right to get high. If you don't like it, run for goverment and see how many people vote for your anarchist views. Or you can move to mexico. I don't think they'll have a problem with drug use there.

I think the problem here is what people do to others when they're so high they're out of control and then they hurt other people. I'd also argue that drugs breed crime. Crime which is usually perpetrated against people who are NOT the ones doing drugs.

If they all used in isolation so others wouldn't be hurt, and drugs were given away freely so they wouldn't breed crime... then it won't hurt anyone else, so let them use.

it's not my place to force him to live as I wish.

I don't think there's enough info to even answer this one. I think the answer is entirely dependant on the importance of the program you put out. If you write rules for DoD firwalls, then you should be measuring in hours or minutes. If you write screensavers to put on OLPC... You have a little more time. And there's the inbetween, like if you write the algorithm that counts how many M&M's go into each bag.

And to further clarify things, I was poking fun at Jobs and his tendency to overreact when someone steals the wind from his sales. Please refrain from modding my statements that are loosely based on reality as Informative. And if my above amendment STILL doesn't get it right, can someone (LKM) PLEASE correct it so those who are using slashdot as a source of reliable information can get an accurate representation of the events that actually occurred.

And btw, there's no way you can POSSIBLY know that "No product was "nixed" because ATI leaked infos about Apple."[SIC] You can't make that statement. There could have been an apple car that some ATI guy told his dog about, jobs found out, and nixed it! HA! I'm sure the deb folks are doing the same. I'd venture to say a LOT more of the linux users are ordering a server and putting a legal copy of linux on them as opposed to windows users putting legal copies of windows. Illegal copies of either OS shouldn't count.
