Yeah yeah, Im aware of the mind gobbling numbers. Im also aware that the chances are not 0. Maybe you are not aware of the Large Bitcoin Collider CHECKING trillions of PKs. Maybe you are not aware of the handfuls of people that have found stacked wallets out of randomness.
All that nerd speak does not invalidate my point that the PKs are out there, no one needs to store them all to stumble upon a single one, you dont need to generate them all to sequentially crawl ranges like the LBC does.
the 1543894523164215938980946466782505438037834190387665391768068841886908819925 pages of dinamically generated PK pairs in directory.io are what? I dont see how anyone needs 20 years of CS and cryptography PhDs to click "get lucky" and end on Satoshis wallet, as irrational as it is, do not underestimate luck.
The riches of bitcoin are more likely to enslave you and your kids in their imaginary crypto future where the 4th reich is powered entirely by bitcoin. Just so you know.
If this were true how is that IRS knows about all your BTC trades and is ready to fuck you once you try to cash out?
2010 called and they want their meme back. Nobody uses BTC for the shit you mention. Bitcoin sucks hugely, believe me, but is not because of your handwringing and think of the kids stupidity.
Is neither. Is an atavista or Yahoo. Good for a first comer but ready to be replaced by new coins with fresh ideas and teams not owned by "institutional money" into becoming centralized.
BTC is being pumped by some actors literally printing Virtual USD and buying coin with them. This to keep luring clueless investors. Tech wise BTC is not worth $100 USD even. It's all make believe store of value and corporate shilling.
Yeah, is not like theres 800+ other coins of which 10% have better roadmaps and better tech than current bitcoin. BTC might die, I hope it dies the 1000 shorts death. Buy crypto is here to stay.
Good news for the bitter folks that only come out of the closet on every bitcoin article, i guess.
Are you aware that banks have trojaned BTCcore and are currently turning it into a centralized commodity?
Also, people with coins have all the right to call on every clueless jelly that comes left and right, they took the risk and they got the profit.
Is crypto haters the ones that have to worry more about what they'll say to their kids if by any change this shit ends up being world currency and your kids have to start from scratch, and believe me, GP's attitude is nothing compared to general attitude of hardcore crypto followers.
tl:dr if you dont invest in crypto for you kids, be sure to invest on kneepads instead because they are going to need them.
1) not a trading site, a pool. 2) Pot is never full, everyone cash out as soon as they can 3) Proff of hacking? 4) You cant just keep bitcoin you claim was stolen, the balance and transactions are open for the world to see.
Why you answer anonymous trolls whose knowledge of bitcoins obviously dates back to 2010. And is it confirmed that is a breach not just a simple directory find?
What I love is that someones are full bent on FUDing crypto on slashdot, and the voluntary ignorance on the matter makes every single crypto article on/. a parade of cluelessness and regret.
Interesting times when you get deeper tech discussions with 12yos on 4chan than with veterans on slashdot.
BTC holders pray for (someones else) bitcoins to be stolen and lost forever. This is a pool, you cant just really have people on shift 24/7 pushing payments whenever a single miner reach the payment threshold.
Your anal security protocol is worth exactly shit if some kid just stumbled upon the stacked wallet in the directory and just had to copy the private keys.
You are aware that ALL PKs of ALL bitcoin wallets are already available online right? You just need some massive amount of luck to find one with a balance but they are out there, open for the world.
Oh look it finally happened, what Ive been preaching and hoping for a decade, finally happened, look at mee I was right, the massive money transfer in the last decade is fake news and thats good because I missed it and now the massive regret I deeply carry will be lessened for a couple days.

What show? a bunch of noobs that can't set up a single Json file (ergo needing a point and click miner) getting their lunch money taken by a hack? Do you see Bitcoin crashing? Nicehash is not a fart in the wind in the great scheme of things. Is not an exchange, nobody sends money to NH, they are just a pool of garden variety miners.
Now theres actual heavy shit behind the scenes of Bitcoin, shit that have the potential to crash the whole bubble to $1 but you would not know about it since you are evidently clueless about the whole matter. I bet it hurts to try to actually be informed about it.
Full disclaimer: I dont own a single bitcoin and Id love to see it crash too.
Yes but the difficulty is so high (and Monero the coin so stagnant) thats not really worth it. Theres always newer and fresher coins to mine tho, but most crypts are going Prof-of-stake instead of prof-of-work. The value of bitcoins being given by the electricity used to create them was always a meme.
This JS would have been a killer 3-4 years ago, today? And with the SEC preparing to come after so many scammers in the crypto scene? Meh.
Thats... thats not how it works. Theres no fractional gain in mining unless you are part of a mining pool. AFAIK you only get your share if you find one block, if you are mining alone all the block reward goes to you, if it's found by a pool its shared across the participants relative to the amount of work they provided.
But as far as I've been reading, crypto mining is dead, its been dead for months only profitable for the mining farms in Asia.
Latest ASIC miners are not reaching ROI within 2 years, for example, it used to be weeks/months.
Went from DU 56K > DSL 1M > DSL 5M to Fiber 60M. The best service in reliability have been the fiber and I know for a fact it is not oversubscribed, I usually get download speeds in the 80/90M range if the source is good and the latency while gaming keeps the same even at full dl speed, no caps, no issues on peak hours, pretty good service.
The hike in latency started around 2013 so Im mostly blaming that on some "magical hop" right before entering to the US in FL (Im across the pond to the south) This does not happen when I connect to servers in TX, for example. Another example, I could get 170ms to Japan with 1M but now it does not go lower than 230 with fiber. What you say is right, it must be some bad configuration upstream or simply the internet got "too fat" and more monitored. Im not complaining though.
You're also stating stuff that almost everybody on/. already knows.
Am I? Do they? It does not look that way since every single time someone brings the topic the answers are long lists of comments dickwaving about who has the most blockers and ridiculous privacy set ups.
Most people in here act as if the ad networks target them specifically or personally as if this demographic was worth the effort. Millenials on the other hand... see Snapchat.
Would these communities get higher bandwidth by using 3G or 4G? Sounds like an opportunity to do some mesh networking if ATT could care to spin this, at least, for the PR value.
My first broadband was 1M/100Kb and I could study and do lots of things, even start a small business, then again this was 2006 and the web was lighter and simpler. It was worth the time to leave most videos buffer for a bit on Youtube, you could get content!
Now I have 60/40 Mb fiber and while I really appreciate the upload speed, the reality is that it has only served me to download games and ISOs faster than I could possibly need, also my latency increased 30%. I'd say 5/2Mb should be the very minimum for the web today.
How about IP address?. How about screen size and density? How about GPU fingerprint? Your adblocker and script blocker combination is enough to identify you. Also, you know most adblockers (looking at you ghostery) aggregate the user behavior data? how do you know what they do with that behind doors.
Please share with us the host list for all the tracking servers active and the ones popping every day. Maybe you can create an app for that and... oh wait.
At the very least you are 100% sure the NSA knows everything and everywhere related to your device. Do you trust them not to share the information with the great advertisers in exchange for their data? One can only be so naive.
It would be hipster if only YOU use it. You are not a hipsterhater, YOU ARE A HIPSTER, because bragging about not doing what the masses do is what defines a hipster. #Failing
Penetration is a fancy word to say "out of the totality of smartphone and tablet users (N) in America 81% has installed Facebook" It does not necessarily means they use it, in some cases.
Thanks. Also, the Archive needs us, make sure to donate.

The same arguments come every time electric cars are discussed:
But I usually drive an $insanelylong route and fuck the safety of everyone in my way, I want my 1000 Miles electric SUV
They will bitch about the rare earth mining ecological disasters when they get their 1000 Mile SUV.
I bet lots of people cursed at Ford "but my horse only needs water and carrots!" "what will this fucking petroleum ever do for us!?"
Advertisers wish that could be true...
Yet, it may tend to be true depending on how big you are.

Al in all, the chances of being personally tracked increase by the more unique you try to be in your browsing habits. Should be common sense.
