People with illegal copies of Windows would typically either be cheapskates or live in a developing country.

I'm a cheapskate living in a developing country you insensitive clod... but more on topic, I may be a cheapskate but IF Windows can give me a decent piece of OS I'd be more motivated to actually pay for it.

And you're wrong about MAC not being targeted for developing countries, actually here you see more marketing stuff for Apple than MS and Apple has by FAR more good perception than MS (iPod/iPhone have helped there)If you're a design shop and you tell you customers that you run Apple you can bill them more that the other that run Windows, so buying an Apple PC is actually an investment rather than the pandora's box of TOC that is Windows.

Sure, design and CAD shops are a niche but a very large niche and also normal people are aware that a Mac "do not get virus". Only showstopper for a MAC here: MacBookPro 17" == USD$3235.996 .. you can actually start up a second shop with that money. I'd jump the shark but I have faith in the year of Linux on the Design Workstation :)

That was very informative. And makes me think, Why MS (assuming MS has equal or more money than NASA)does not do the same thing? I mean, is not that Windows needs to be immaculate, is not used by critical stuff, but I think that if someone charges MS for the TIME WASTED being bugs, trident html render, drivers, useless standars, bad practices etc. MS would go bankrupt.

If I, in a position like President, Secretary of Commerce or related have handed a report about the country productivity loss, with a frickin lot of 0's, because of the OS that is 90% of market share is a turd, I'd be pissed off. Is nothing about politics it's fucking common sense and I'd grab MS by the balls and make the them pay for the productivity loss and make them do it RIGHT next time even if that means putting a finger in the ass from Ballmer downwards to the guy in the kitchen, thinking in the OS like a nation (even global?)asset. This is coming from someone who does not love nor hate MS or Windows.

I don't give a fuck about monopolies since they do the things right, I know that power corrupts, but is not impossible that being a monopoly you can't at least do the thing RIGHT, look Google.

Am I too humble/caffeinated to believe that something like this would ever happen?

The flash content for mobile devices is not created in the same fashion that normal FLASH content, it's somewhat optimized and easy on resources [i.e. compiles different], every version of FLASH since 8 have templates to develop for exclusive ranges of phones and mobile gadgets. If you drive you Nokia NXX to a full flash site is not FLASH fault, it's yours if you don't point the browser to the mobile section or the web developer fault if the site does not have one. Just google for Japanese mobile flash sites.

Guess what format it the "Win XP Tour"? or the welcome animation just before final configurations.. yes sir, it's Flash. What your system is asking is for the plugin for your web browser not the actual FLASH player. It's easy to think that the flash you install for you browser is "TEH FLASH". The internal part so you can see .swf files from your HDD is another story. It even different for those who have FLASH creation software.

Example. I do a fresh install of win Xp for my work PC, I install my design software and Macromedia FLASH 8 pro (itÂs my favorite) then I install Firefox and the first thing I need to do is to install the flash plugin for FF. Maybe the embedded plugin that FLASH 8 installs is just for IE YMMV.

Set up a virtual box and install Xp on it, then download some .swf file and try to play it, then told us if it plays. I donÂt know and I'm too lazy to do it but you have 90% chances to play the movie if it's version 6 format or under.

Thats more than enough for CAD and desktop publishing, HL2 series runs great but since IANAGamer think that Putting Wooping Q2 (did I mention that I play a lot of Q2?) as a reference does add much to the facts but sure it can handle HD video, reviewers say that it can.

Pair this with some Phenom (II) TriCore and 2 Gb of ram and you have a very affordable and respectable combo. Supporting AMD for great justice!
