People go out of their way not to wear glasses despite the fact there are some really nice look glasses. No matter how awesome google glasses may be I can't see people deciding all of the sudden they're ok with wearing glasses and one that look relatively dorky. We're shallow people and combining that with the reputation that google is getting for snooping on your privacy it's just not going to happen.
Why shouldn't we? iOS doesn't cater to the less fortunate in society and it's a closed garden.
Android is a mess, it's insecure, it's developed by a data hungry advertiser and it isn't offering a real alternative for app developers. Android also offers very little for hardware companies. If you're not Samsung then you're fighting over scraps and probably in financial dire straits.
So I do think it's needed and it relies on web so it's not exactly creating vendor lock-in.
If you do something that is illegal in your country but legal on the server where you are doing it then you get in trouble because you're in the country where it's illegal. You've committed the act in that country. It only makes sense then the purchase, if made in the UK, is UK revenue and therefore UK tax should be paid on it. Just treat the corporations like you'd treat your citizens.
It's not just about tax dodging which most corporations do but the fact that google is possibly lying and not legally paying minimal tax. Can you give a reason to believe Microsoft or anyone else for that matter is doing the same?
It's not exactly as multifaceted as a desktop system. There is only so many things you can do with it. One of the most obvious uses of the thing will be to record lots of video and take pictures. The two things it appears to really kill the battery.
i'm not saying he doesn't have a good reason to think that's a good idea but really, turning yourself into a billboard is a bit silly. I suspect the people defending him would feel different if he was a Jersey shore jock with a Louie Vuitton tattoo but it's pretty much the same thing.
Smart people also think something that is meant to worn all day shouldn't have a, at best, 5 hour battery life with possibly as little as 2 hours. That shows a real lack of intelligence on Google's behalf if they haven't sorted that out yet. It's possibly the most important thing.
I don't object to the idea of getting a tattoo but really, a product logo? That's going to look really dumb in 10 years when he's tired of ubuntu, they go under or change their logo.
That's a lousy excuse to allow a company to shift a poor product. They're charging for it and besides the point for something meant to be worn all day battery life should have been at the top of the list of things to sort out. Otherwise it just shows poor planning.
Even so, it's something that is meant to be worn all day. Battery life is the first thing they should have sorted out especially when asking people to pony up $1500 for it.
You don't really have a choice either. I won't disagree it's not that bad for simple tasks but for games or extended typing (especially on a phone) it's a poor alternative to a keyboard.
Trillian and Pidgin do it if you don't mind having to manage multiple accounts and don't mind it only working on the platforms they choose to support. There's no reason we can't have a real open messaging system. In fact we do with XMPP but no one wants to use it so they can lock you in and google who claims to be all about being open made their XMPP based software incompatible.
A macbook air or thinkpad x series are notebook size, realistic screen with power and battery life. I agree the Dell netbooks (assuming it was the same as I saw) were too small and poor. My Asus EEE 901 was a bit small but I didn't mind the screen. It was more the keyboard.
One is also easily ten times better at multi-tasking, has an infinitely superior supply of applications, isn't as closed off generally has more power (unless you're a tightwad).
We've had touchscreens since at least the mid-80's and they've never really taken off because they're a bit shit for typing. Where as cars can be awesome to sit in and race around in. So I think the guy has a valid point. Once you put a keyboard on a tablet it's basically a laptop which is a good way to improve it given that laptops are superior.
World of Goo was a humble indie bundle game and they had a pay what you want (minimum of a $1) sale and they still ended up with the majority of players being pirates, I believe something like 80-90%. That's why I don't buy most people's arguments about cost or even DRM. If you can't pay $1 for a quality DRM free game then you're just a selfish leech.
You're also likely to get punched in the head for constantly recording someone if they find out. Maybe it's illegal if they do it but it won't mean much while your head is bouncing off their fist.
Photos generally make a noise when they take a picture due to regulations that require them to in order to make it more obvious when someone is being a creep. There is a fine line between harassing people and taking public pictures and I think some google glasses users are going to find that out the hard way.
They don't have the leading system. Globally the 360 is in third place. Yes it might be relatively popular in the US but a lot of people don't actually care for the 360. I don't blame them, it's the most expensive system over all, it's loud and ugly and its quality is poor and all the good games are also available on the PS3.
That's because a lot of Linux people are the sort of people that will hate mainstream things. They probably don't even care about open source or contribute to it. It's just about not using Windows because their mom uses it.
Ubuntu is still a great all around operating system and has helped bring a lot of attention to Linux and that's partially because someone is trying to make a business out of it.
No, you have the option of not tying your google searches to a user a account and a specific name but if you think that save you then you don't belong in public.

Because the government likely won't have the balls to go through with it and punish them but they have to put on a show.

True, it's probably not an issue if you live in your mom's basement.

WE do know Twitter seems very happy to roll over and hand your data over. They shouldn't get any stars.

With the outages in their east centre it has shown a lot of people on Amazon don't have redundancy either.
