I have the voicemail-sent-as-an-email-with-wav-file at my office. I actually like this feature, because it allows me to check my voicemail remotely (via my email, which I am much more likely to check remotely than voicemail messages) and listen to them on my computer at home without having to dial into the voicemail system.

Another cool thing about Staples - if you want to buy a large item but you don't want to carry it home, or if they don't have the item in stock and you don't want to come back for it later, you can order it online there at one of the computer terminals. Then you go to the register, pay for the item there, and they ship it to your house for free. So no need to hit the $50 mark for free shipping (like you do online).

I think your elitist vision of a net only accessible to the privileged educated few would be quite horrible

Why? Because we can have quality websites filled with stuff that we can appreciate? Because rather than having to pander to corporate whims we can design the web to suit us? What about this fills you with such fear?

What fears me most is that there are people out there like you who don't give people a chance to learn. The 'net is a place for people to learn, to share ideas, to be heard. If you don't want to be a part of the "lowly masses" then don't. I don't hear anyone crying because you didn't join them.

And as for those "lame" sites that people like to post with personal info for their friends and family, like everyone else here said, don't go there! What strikes me as odd is that a person of your caliber is complaining about websites that don't even regard you! Don't click there; it's really not that hard to not press your index finger on that groove. If you can't handle not clicking, then maybe you should hold off on visiting sites on the Internet until you have "graduated" and can prove to have some self-control.

I can understand the gripes about the mouse. It's designed for small hands and -- although no one has ever really gotten a straight answer from Apple on this -- "coolness" factor. I assume there's a reason why they're sticking with it through four or five iMac revisions, plus the G3 and G4 desktops.

Apple designed the iMac mouse to be a "finger-mouse". You're only supposed to be able to put two fingers on it and click it, not hold it in your hand like the normal PC mice.
