Precisely. The new crop of 12" netbooks is stupid. It completely defeats the purpose because at this point they're just slow laptops. For probably the same cost, you could get a 14" laptop with fare more processing power.
Personally, I want to see netbooks (and ideally tablets) go the other direction. I want to see a $100 netbook or tablet with just enough power to do very basic computing.
Smart phones aren't getting cheaper, they're suffering the same price increases as netbooks. They're just subsidized by the carrier who is locking you into an expensive multi-year contract.
Until round trips between the server and client are guaranteed to be under 50ms, the lag will feel unbearable. If someone is playing a racing game and has to deal with a second between the time they begin turning and the time they actually see it turn this service will be dead before it begins.
So... corporate trickle down is bad, but government trickle down is good? Lowering taxes on the wealthy hoping the money will trickle down the plebes will never work, but sending all of your money to Washington and hoping they distribute it back to the people fairly is a good idea?
Who spent hundreds of billions of dollars to occupy Iraq recently? Amazon or the US government?
A building stays put. When a store is built, you know exactly where it is and that physical location can, with some work by classifying products based on city, county and state taxes, determine what the sales tax should be on every item in that store.
Selling online, you need to determine at runtime where any particular address is and what taxation jurisdiction it falls into. That in itself can be a complicated procedure. There are software packages that do this, but they are by no means perfect. Zip codes that cover multiple cities or areas that define taxes completely arbitrarily that can't be mapped by address easily.
In addition, product classification changes from one tax jurisdiction to another. Refer to the poster above who states that Mounds candy bars get taxed one way, while Almond Joy, the exact same candy but with nuts is taxed a different way. The combinations of tax rates and products is incredibly complex.
There are very good reasons that taxes can't be collected by a seller like Amazon.
People are certainly free to create parties, but there is no reason they need to be officially recognized by the government. Why should parties be listed on an official ballot so that idiots can easily vote straight ticket? If you aren't informed enough to know the name of the person you want to vote for, you aren't informed enough to vote.
Can you imagine if every name wasn't followed by (R) or (D)? People might actually have to listen and learn rather than just wait for the right letter to appear before knowing whether to boo or cheer!
The idea was there, but even SWG became about min-maxing when it came to combat. Want to solo anything in the galaxy? Teras Kasi/Rifleman. Most of the time you can kill it before it reaches you, but if it does you dodge-slap it to death.
The most interesting part of the game was the non-combat professions. Personally I had a lot of fun just playing a merchant/weaponsmith with enough skill in a weapon to defend myself while I was out planting harvesters. But when it comes to high end combat, either you choose the right blend of skills or don't bother. Skill based games are incredible difficult to balance.
Those damn sci-fi authors. You know the type. Big burly guys, lots of leather, gnarly facial hair, riding around on their "motorcycles" and causing trouble. I say throw the book at him.
Minnesota Nice is actually Minnesota Gullible. It's just looks like Minnesotans being nice when really most of the people here are just smiling at the person talking because they don't understand what was just said.
And right on cue, in walks to idiot who conflates "small manageable law" to "anarchy."
Too many laws is almost as bad as anarchy, because nobody knows what the law is. You've probably broken numerous laws today that you didn't even know existed. So how does it feel to be a criminal?
News stories fall under copyright laws, so your ability to hear about the state of the world will be affected by ACTA. I'd say it's a very important, especially since we all know that people like Rupert Murdoch are intent on locking up information as tightly as possible to squeeze every last dime out of your pocket.
If everyone trusts each other, then why are laws needed banning firearms? If firearms were an option people simply chose not to, then they aren't armed. If there is a law saying they cannot be armed, then they are disarmed.
The US would be a better place if more people understood exactly what you just said. I've tried to explain before to both Democrats and Republicans, and all I get are blank stares.
Damn fine post. Wish I had mod points. "Regulation" in the modern age where our "representatives" pass thousand page bills without batting an eye are not so much regulation as they are about competitive advantage.
The common cry of "There oughta be a law!" is the problem, not the solution.
Nobody is talking about taking away anybody's home. A home is physical property.
Does my company continue to pay my salary to my wife if I got hit by a bus? No, that's why people have life insurance. Don't musicians purchase life insurance?
Speak for yourself. I do own a motorcycle, coupe and truck.
Is this what you're looking for?

It's a bit over 1kg, but has great battery life. This particular model is the true successor to the original eee netbooks IMO.

Howdy neighbor!
I didn't vote for her, I only moved here last February. I look forward to voting against her.

If they're inaudible, how do Apple fanatics know when to rush up to him, bend over, and take a deep breath?
After hundreds and hundreds of them died to a handful of machine gun nests.
Sounds like a great strategy for a game. All you need to do is gather 5000 of your closest friends...
I'm not sure why people - including myself - are arguing with you, you're an idiot and a troll.

I've lived here most of my life. Trust me, I know how gullible people here are.

Are all 54K in the same star system at the same time participating in the same battle?
How many active players per star system does EVE support?
If not, then does it really matter if other users are on different WoW servers?

Do these names ring a bell?
Kennedy
Bush
Clinton
This country has royal families, you're lying to yourself if you see otherwise.

The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy.
People who don't want to pay an additional $360/yr for a data plan?
