I'm sure some people are tired of me hating on macs but you know damn well that FireWire was not ready to be dumped. Especially with all that Apple junk that uses FireWire, if I was an Apple fan and had invested money into their gear, I would be uber pissed. Not to mention, as much as I hate to admit it, other that being extremely universal, FireWire is superior to USB in terms of transfer speeds. I just think they should have left it in for a few more generations, or at least until some technology comes around to replace it. Sorry to all you iLovers who can't get enough Apple stuff, I don't hate you, I just find many things about Apple irritating. Nothing personal.
This should have been done a long time ago! The fact that credit cards and ssns are just floating around is stupid. But will this really solve the whole identity theft issue? I don't really believe it will change the situation too much. Generally when there is a security breach the company notifies everyone, putting them on alert. It's the morons who see a popup that says "your pc is infected get winantivirus2008 to fix it" and actually pay for malware that are the most at risk. And what about when you go to a restaurant and pay with a credit card and the server writes down the numbers before handing it back to you. That is where the real danger lies.
lmao yeah mac isn't just a product, it's a lifestyle and a religion. I don't understand what people see in it. Crappy proprietary hardware, that is cheap in quality, but unbelievably expensive to repair or replace. Unless of course..you have Apple Care. I know someone who spent a total of $2500 on their MacBook Pro (with Apple Care). I got my ThinkPad T61 off eBay, new, for $800 with about the same specs. Since we have had our machines, mine has never had anything wrong with it at all. On his, the webcam broke, and they couldn't fix it so the entire screen needed to be replaced. The battery started dying after 30 minutes of usage, and on top of that it had bad memory. But wait it gets better. After further review, the memory wasn't the only issue. It was found that the motherboard was frying the memory modules! JOY! So now the mobo had to be replaced too! Sounds like QUALITY to me!
Well that's the point. You can either do it yourself, outsource to another company, or use a beta product (i guess that's an option of its own). The unfortunate fact is: When the boss man gets mad, he's going to get mad at a tangible, human being, whom he holds somewhat responsible. He's not going to get mad at the idea of a hard working IT department in another state. In this world, most people like to point fingers, and especially if it is your idea to outsource your email and such, you need to expect fingers being pointed at you when there is a problem.
lmao yeah really...i know google gives all the excuses in the world as to why they still consider it a beta, but c'mon. It's just an excuse so when shit like this happens they can point their fingers at the subscript and say "well it's beta"!
You can't count on Google to run your IT...sorry buddy. Using Google may be cost effective, but the obvious trade off is that someone else is really doing your job, and if that person drops the ball, then you really screwed the pooch, at least that's what your boss will think.
I have a ThinkPad with the exact same thing, and guess how many times I've used it? ZERO (0)!!! This is for a number of reasons, but a big one is how customized my OS and browser is. I open up FF and type in a pwd and immediately Slashdot opens, and logs me in, eBay opens, and logs me in, Gmail opens, and logs in, and Woot! opens up and logs in. It's all automated and quick. Unless I can have FF with noscript running on this "micro windows", and unless it synchronizes with my regular FF, I'm not interested.
Well if it was not specifically stated, then they also would be faced with the possibility of lawsuits for exercising this "feature", thus discouraging them from using it in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I like being informed, but I also know that sometimes being informed can give other parties certain rights they would not necessarily have had otherwise.

Well, you lost my business Google. That's a major deal breaker. I don't like anyone having control over my stuff but me. The fact that they are so open about having it makes me think they won't be afraid to use it either.
LAWL! Yeah, that's a great idea. Lets go ringing doorbells!
"Hi! Are you Mrs. Smith?"
"Yes, I am. And who might you be?"
"I'm John, and your computer is infected with a bot-net called Storm. You and millions of other users are infected and are constantly infecting other computers without your knowledge. I can fix your computer for $200, what do you say?"
And even if that worked, it won't work for everyone. Too much time needed to fix it, too much money for it to be possible. Poisoning the botnet is the way to go.

I'm sorry but any story regarding a product with an "i" in front of the name is not concerning technology and is a waste of my time.

Ummm what if you are a passenger in the car? That would royally suck if you couldn't answer calls or text while being a PASSENGER in the car!
