There is also the theory that 7" is a better size than 9.5" for this market.
I can only speak for myself, but, That's my view of it. I've just jumped on to the Android bandwagon myself, after seeing iPads that my friends and relatives have, and for what I want to use it for the 7" form factor is much more convenient. The larger screen is nice, but 7 inches inch screen is easier to hold, and I use mine almost constantly when away from my laptop.
I think Netflix needs some new leadership. Keep the streaming, lose the dumbass moves.
It has been moved and seconded, I call for a vote.
I live in Mexico, and we just got streaming. Compared to what was available when I lived in NY City, the choices are abysmal. Don't they think we can handle more choices?
Civil Disobedience, in and of itself, is not necessarily a bad thing. Civil disobedience by some "anonymous" men, against a tyrannical ruler, caused the US to be brought forth, after all.
Detroit will be interested in it, if it works better.
Hint: Detroit has worked on this idea before, and didn't get it to work.
As if that's something new. Detroit has been stuck in the dark ages since Henry came up with using an assembly line so that the average Joe could actually afford a car. Each and every time the Government comes out with an edict to make the auto "more efficient, have better mileage, safer, etc. ad infinitum) Detroit screams "Can't be done" or "it will make a car too expensive" or other such nonsensical tactic to try to delay or stop innovation. In the late 70s and 80s cars American cars basically sucked rhino because of this, and people thought that cars would never be fun to drive again, and it was the death of the American performance car. Now, because independent innovation has made it actually fun to drive again. The worst car being manufactured today, exceeds the best of 30 years ago.
Innovation exists everywhere else in the world. Hell, India is coming out with a $35 computer tablet, and Tata is making the most inexpensive car in the world, Korean cars were a laughing stock until innovation has caused American car magazines to have them on "Best Buy Lists" every damn year.
It's high time the auto industry took a hint from the late Steve J.
The libertarian side of me disagrees with this. Why should the people in the city be subsidizing the lifestyles of the people in the country?
Hmmm, maybe because it might be the right thing to do ? seeing as how the interwebs actually provide a lot of educational content (as well as p0rn, don't ya' know) and that education is to put it mildly, somewhat important to not only the US, but humanity, in general? But what do I know, I AM older than dirt.
It also seems that an old saw might be proven right, as in "A new broom sweeps clean" One can only hope!
I've had a Kindle 3 since it came out with the low,low price of $139,also bought one for mywife as we are both avid readers (between us we have overv 3,000 ebooks in our library), We both read for about 3 hours a day and my wife states that ""They can take my Kindle when they pry it from my cold dead hand".
Personally, I'd prefer a single device that can do just about everything I'd want it to, andthe Fire approaches, but not quite attains that.
That being said, The Fire comes in at $199, and by the reviews I have read is an extremely easy device to use, and has a consumer friendly interface, similar to the Blackberry Play Book (the 16GB version of which sells for $499, somewhat more than the $199 Fire), runs on Android (even if it's heavily overlaid by Amazon's interface).
Am I the only one who actually *liked* the physical keyboard and buttons on the old Kindle? I don't want my greasy fingerprints all over my screen and I like the tactile feel of a physical keyboard. And the Kindle's physical keyboard was a pretty good one too.
Don't go outside into the REAL WORLD to exercise and socialize, just sit on your butt playing video games and pretending the people in the games are your real friends. All the while you get bigger and more unhealthy... eating garbage food and have subluxations grow.
I'm a 64 year old, American Baby Boomer, like games, read a metric crap load of books, and live in Mexico. I used to weigh in at 235 Lbs. (6'0"). Since I've moved here, I have dropped 40 Lbs., gone down from a size 44 waist to a size 38. So what's your point ?
I'm a Baby Boomer retiree living in Mexico. I can attest to the fact that not only is land here inexpensive but living expenses as well. Land here is No Where Near $200k US an acre.
Terminator: The.45 long slide, with laser sighting.
Clerk: These are brand new - we just got them in. That's a good gun. Just touch the trigger, the beam comes on and you put the red dot where you want the bullet to go. You can't miss. Anything else?
Terminator: Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.
Clerk: Hey, just what you see pal.
Terminator: The Uzi nine millimeter.
Clerk: You know your weapons, buddy. Any one of these is ideal for home defense. So uh, which will it be?
Terminator: All.
Clerk: I may close early today. There's a 15 day wait on the hand guns but the rifles you can take right now, and you have to fill these out too.

Or, to put it an other way, "Will Moore's Law be proven and/or violated ?
"These are not the drones you're looking for"
would make nazi weep.
With joy of course
And don't ever get sick enough to need a blood transfusion.
Oh, and don't ever work in the health industry or volunteer anywhere that you could accidentally come in contact with infected blood.
Are you trolling or just that naive?
Little of both actually, with a touch of insanity, just for the flavor of course.

Long Answer: Yes

This is just a refinement of the same meme.

Amazon should close down its servers for 1 hour in memoriam.
