Yes you can run php scripts with a .asp extension. You just need to tell the web server that the asp extension will be handled with the php engine :-)
I know. i have 2 servers right here with uptimes in the hundreds of days. I only recently noticed that they were only using 64 MB when there was 128 MB of RAM. In 2.2 Kernels i can testify that problem is no more.
