Maybe one of those golf balls the moon boys shot into space, but nothing metallic that we've made (hence this being news and not just a curious fact). =)
This is very true. Then there's also the added benefit of getting stumped while doing something and having 4-6 people to holler at for help rather than one office mate (who will have a difference choice in music than you and insist upon playing it loudly).

Can you capture streaming media sources and then have them downloaded on the next sync? eg. If I want to download some foreign news radio each morning via ftp/http from http://www.wrn.org [wrn.org] and have that queued to sync on to the iPod before I leave for my morning commute? Does it support realaudio? Can realaudio be converted to mp3? What about for 'live' streams?
Are there applescripts to do this on OS X?
Okay, that would be no, no, no, no, no, and no.
At least, not by default. With a little work an AppleScript might be able to pull that one off for static content on the site, but not for streams (at least, not in iTunes).
Not only that but now that Apple's on an all-LCD line up they can claim they're more secure.;) That'll last as long as the supercomputer gag did, but hell, they gotta try.
May PCs ship with ATA/100 or 133 these days. Apple is getting some techno-flak for "still" using ATA/66 in its machines. It's not the technology, it's the decision to keep it.
But I don't care. I threw a 160GB drive in an external FireWire case and it worked like a charm so it doesn't bother me (ok, I'll grant my reason for this was the two 80GB drives in the computer, but still....). =)
Perhaps, and don't take this wrong, she needed a full tower for home use because her son is a geek? Perchance? Had she done it herself I'm sure it could have taken up half the space (with a loss in functionality, of course).
Good point. I buy a registration from my state government to pay for the roads and to give me access to them. I would not mind another $60/yr to get WI access as well. Perhaps even more, you know? If they want authentication *sigh* then I'm ok with PPPoE. I just want access. There's a telco fight in my area and nobody can get broadband of any sort until they finish duking it out. It's been two years.
Are you kidding? I wanted DOS to die from day one and look where that's got us. It took until this year for it to officially go away. No, keep wishing and if it's broken bad enough it will get replaced.
I manage several lists. The alternative is to email (listname)-owner@yahoogroups.com and have the owner unsub you from *their* interface. I can kick off anyone I want without them having to hand over any information at all.
... except for booting after a power failure. While you're fscking your fscked up drive I'm at a login prompt with all my servers running with all their data (Reiser). ext2 is great... for the/tmp dir and any other directory that need be quick and somewhat reliable. But for/home and/usr (and others) you want a stable and smart filesystem, without regard to how quickly you can delete 10K files on it.
Yep. The shading on the surface of the device is very ray-tracing-ish and the shadow on its left is going out too far in comparison to the cigarette box. This is an obvious fake. Not to mention that the Apple logo is the wrong way up if the iBook and TiBook are anything to base an opinion on. You'd think Apple would shoot for constistancy. =)
If Linux is ever supposed to not get the impression that it's written by monkeys then we need to get a primate a little higher on the evolutionary scale as a buildmaster. You can mod me down for that, but you know it's true. He might have started it, but Cox is making it work...
Look at the URL. It's WO, not PHP. I doubt Steve would let anyone use anything other than WO on the site... ;)
The PPP bug that Apple jettisoned Finlay Dobie's ADC account for is fixed in this version. Interesting, isn't it? =)
Absolutely. No more playing darts with Mars.

Wow, a ship named Voyager in interstellar space with primary systems failing, running on backups and almost out of touch with Earth.
And this time I care enough to follow the story. Hrm.
IIRC, that was Voyager "5" but I share the same sentiment. ;)
Ok, sure. I'll connect a Mac OS 9 box to the net and let's see if you can get in. =)

They *are* indeed shipping, guy. I'm sitting in front of one now.

Ok, I have seen the light. Robin Williams is a prophet. All this trademark and patent stuff? It's all Canada's fault.
BLAME CANADA!!!
(hehehe)

The rednecks win again. w00t.

Let's just throw some NAPs (Neighborhood Access Points) out there and give everyone an 802.11b card. Wireless modems are silly these days. Let it die.

Umm ... yeah.
So what I was saying was that the benchmarks are irrelevent, really. Nice to see that went unnoticed.
Cheerio.

Absolutely! I'm on my third 75GXP (now a 60GXP) and they just keep coming... Boy, it's like ten hard drives for the price of one! =)
Except we're on the twelveth service pack now.

I had a 45GB 75GXP fail two weeks ago and got a 60GB 60GXP replacement. No problems so far, so that appears to be right.
